The Balbarian iOS, iPad game

The Balbarian is about classic action adventure game made with a modern twist to suit touch screens on mobiles devices.

Our game is about Balbarian, a Barbarian who has had his prized beer mug (Stein) stolen along with a few other cherished items (underwear) which the player endeavour to collect along the way until the Stein is returned home to the mantel piece.

Balbarian is the main character with the mind of a warrior, the soul of a barbarian and the body of a sphere. His body is the weapon of choice as you can use his face to smash through walls, his body to squash enemies, or use him as a human torch to bring fire with you to complete challenges. The game is base on a simple swipe mechanic to keep the experience enjoyable on mobile devices. There is only one button which activates Balbarian’s special RAGE ability that allows him to channel his ancient
life-force into a powerful attack, speed boost or to destroy larger objects which stand in his way and is fueled by destroying nearby objects in a satisfying orgy of destruction!

But be warned; despite the simple controls the game offers a wide range of challenging moments which will test the players skill between destroying everything at will and skilfully navigating terrain, environmental challenges and enemies. The game throws a few spanners in the works as Balbarian is susceptible to many things including poisonous plants that invert his controls, cliffs, exploding plants, spiders, slippery ice, mud (a balls worst nightmare) and old fashioned time delayed gates and
spinning blades.

With the use of checkpoints the game allows players unlimited rapid re-spawning to give the player continuous attempts to overcome merciless obstacles and challenges with a moments of frantic speedy dodging to slow and deliberate caution.

The story takes Balbarian on an epic journey through 27 levels in 4 unique environments each containing a variety of challenges that will require a number of different approaches.

Other features include no iAP’s or advertising because we believe in offering a classic gaming experience.

ABOUT US
A little about us and our game, we are a two man indie dev team consisting of an Artist (James) and a Programmer (Federico). We are based in Australia and created Balbarian on the budget of the cost to buy license for unity3D and 1.5 years of lost potential income.
