Red Alert: A Path Beyond brings the exciting storyline and epic clashes from the classic Westwood Studios game, Command & Conquer: Red Alert to realm of first person shooters, with a twist. We've remained loyal to the style and feel of the 1996 classic, while integrating content from its expansions Counterstrike and The Aftermath with a bit of updated history to add to the mix. Built off the W3D engine Westwood Studios built for classics such as Earth & Beyond and Command & Conquer: Renegade finished up in 2001, we help bring the fight to you as you play out your role as any one of a number of infantry classes participating in team-based combat that often involves land, sea, and air combined-arms clashes that just don't happen in any other game. Oh, and did we mention it's FREE?

Well, on my opinion, the original ones are better than the new ones. Or you need a new voicer.

I'm not being sarcastic, if any of you have access to a recording studio and are willing to read just a couple hundred lines --or know somebody else who fits the bill-- just toss me a PM and we'll discuss getting you started.

Hmm...I'm contemplating on actually helping you out with these EVAs.

The originals are still more likeable, if you managed to get it exactly the same then it'd be awesome however there isn't a need for you guys to go and settle with what you've managed to get. (your 'remakes' for example)

Perfection or nothing, otherwise all you'll have is stale cheese and not a cracker that'll go well with it. 8D

Judging from these comments so far, it's pretty easy to see that these new sounds are just going to **** everyone off, just like the sounds in 1.3.0 that got removed in 1.3.1

Why don't you just leave them as it is, I have not seen anyone at all complain about the RA EVA ones.

Quoting from the description, basically the answer is "We can't just use the RA EVA stuff"-

One reason they are being remade is to allow us to include comments the original game did not have audio for. Some original RA1 clips could also sound ambiguous, with shortened pauses between words or dropped consonants; is that "cancel" or "cancelled?" Our clips are purposely over-enunciated in many places and processed to have, among other things, their highs and lows normalized to make them easier to hear and understand over the sounds of combat.

Also the only thing that ****** people off was other people spamming "Intelligence Dubious" which everybody enjoyed actually using.

(Also, who voted *down* my post asking for volunteers to record vocals?)

It's just me but I can see this being a bad move, maybe make a post about it on APB forums and actually get peoples opinion first before committing to something so game changing.
Ive listened to most of the new ones in the .DAT files are they are not good...

Actually, saying that reminds me of something. I do have to admit, when they were first being made I thought they sounded overprocessed and a bit "off" myself. A lot of things sound very different when you finally get them in-game, these included.

I ran into this problem again, working on the new tank cannon sounds. They sounded just fantastic in Audacity when I first "finished" them, but in the game itself they came across as a bit hissy and the rumbling background noise they had (intended to last for a second or two after firing) didn't come through at all.

A lot of the finer details do not sound the same, it varies a lot on the sound playback option you selected, and with the music and engine noise and gunfire things sometimes don't seem how you'd expect them to. Have you heard them mid-match before? My impression on how they are could be biased based on experience with how things actually sound once they get into the game.

For a quick example, you should go check how the Tesla Tank "actually" sounds when it fires, compared to what actually ends up audible in-game.

Description

People seem to be confused about why we have the same EVA announcements for both teams, why they do not sound like a nubile young British woman or a grizzled Russian general, and other things like that.

Or, in one user's words, why we have EVA announcements that sound like "someone putting on a fake 'posh' voice and then adding effects." It's pretty much for the same reason that machine guns damage tanks and concrete buildings, as you'll see here. RA1's EVA was a posh voice with added effects, not Major Evanov growling out that your base is under attack.

This has been quickly put together to compare the original and the remade announcements. They are not supposed to sound strongly "British" or "Russian" or "American," just "English language."

If you'd like to volunteer to do voiceovers, please send me a private message and we'll chat; we do have need for people who want to put on (or simply have) a stronger sounding European/Russian accent for individual soldiers.
