A quick update regarding PUNT: Rebirth's development as of 2/9/16.

Posted by on

To start off, I'd like to apologize for us missing our monthly article for March, as we've been fairly busy with not only PUNT itself, but with other various endeavors as well. That aside, there's quite a lot to discuss in this month's article.

Throughout PUNT's development, the sequence of maps which have gone through the most change is undoubtedly the intro maps. However, their most recent iteration is coming along fairly well, and is the first to progress to where we've begun to add various npc interactions and animations. However, it's still not at a point where we can comfortably show it off just yet.

While we have been showing off a lot of progress on the mod itself lately, our last actual gameplay video for the project was in early 2015, and is therefore seriously outdated. In fact, the puzzle displayed in that video wouldn't even be solvable in the current game. In light of this, we've uploaded a new gameplay video to display how the current build plays.

In addition to the puzzles shown in the video above, we've also completed a few new puzzles (as shown in the images tab).

I'd also like to announce a new contest for PUNT: Rebirth. Any member of the community can submit a sketch, mockup, or other visual representation of their own puzzle design, and the one deemed best by our team will be made into a puzzle in the final game. You may submit your designs by emailing us at either boxandrocks@gmail.com or corruptedstudiosemail@gmail.com . All submissions are due by 4/30/16. Any designs submitted after the deadline will not be accepted. The winner's puzzle will be displayed in multiple images on the Moddb page along with a video.

If your design doesn't happen to win, don't worry! We plan on enabling Steam Workshop support for PUNT: Rebirth upon release, so as long as you're able to use hammer, you'll be able to share your puzzle with the world.

While we're discussing Steam, I'd like to announce that the final game will be free to play for all. The only restriction may be that you have to own Half-Life 2, although we're unsure at the current time. That said, while we did miss our "Greenlight within a month" goal, we hope to launch the page very soon. We're simply waiting on the completion of a trailer.

In addition to the above, PUNT: Rebirth is going to feature an advanced puzzle mode which will unlock a more difficult version of each puzzle you complete. We also hope to have achievements, trading cards, Steam backgrounds, and Steam emotes.

Zafire Flame Dragoon has also created a new song titled "Phase 1" which will appear in PUNT: Rebirth as the first menu theme.

We here at Corrupted Studios are extremely excited for what PUNT's future holds, and we hope to live up to the expectations of the community.

Until next time,

Tristan H (BoxandRocks)

hey dude, this "mod" is so original it doesn't even deserve to be called a mod, and the fact that you will need hl2 just won't happen I think, due to the fact that valve are good guys and they will allow to be standalone :D

Also the cards thing, F2P games generally don't have cards, so if you make something like a bonus dlc that contains some maps and the soundtrack maybe you can give acess to cards to those who buy the DLC! Or make the game paid, I won't mind paying for it.
