I'm still sad that this game got cancelled
Same here, I recently played the original Prey, which I thought was pretty good.
And now I share and understand the pain of everyone who had been anxiously waiting years for this. 😿
Sorry, the game is cancelled, nothing to see here, move along.
I hope its not too much like the first. I don't know what it was but something just didn't feel right when I played the first Prey. I didn't like how it was so straight forward. There were no bonus areas or wrong paths. The areas in it were also so small. No open areas at all.
Why do they use the older id Tech-4 engine instead of the new Tech-5 (like in RAGE)?
Because the first one was on idtech 4 and they already add the bases made on it, they just needed to improve it a little. No engine is a closed box idtech 4 is a tool and you can make radically different games and looks with the same engine, and if you have the source code, like they have, is totally possible to change the engine looks the way we want it.
BTW idtech 5 is just a evolution from idtech 4, the only difference being that idtech 5 has baked radiosity lighting and improved Megatexture tech.
I'm glad to hear it hasn't been cancelled. I really liked the idea behind it even though it doesn't look much like the original Prey.
Hopefully it's free roam sandbox style with lots of options rather than overly linear.

guys the game is cancel and bethesda hasn't said anything about it I thought it was going to be a good I play the first prey. sad face :(
Something about it I must honestly say I don't like, maybe it's extreme similarities with Brink, an extreme failure of a game... The parkour system in this game looks almost just like it, along with the graphics... and whats this? they also share the same engine? and are both published by Bethesda? Hmm... a little too similar... let's hope this isn't such a fail... Open World sounds good though!
