Mooner Mender is a VR game developed during Global Game Jam 2020. It started as a movement system experiment of a low gravity bounce mechanic where the player crouches and stands up to make the player jump. We wanted to test motion sickness and it turns out people who tend to get sick during VR had no issues with this movement mechanic.
The game itself is a world of make believe where a kid is pretending to be an astronaut and the family dog ripped apart his cardboard rocket. He is now trying to rebuild his rocket and fend off the dog aliens with his finger guns shooting bouncing lasers.
Feel free to let us know what you think, we're trying to gauge interest in a title like this before we move forward with refining the idea.
Mooner Mender is a VR game with a new type of movement mechanic for VR that we decided to test at Global Game Jam. The system involves using and crouch and stand up motion to bounce along the lunar surface. Testing proved that individuals with VR sickness didn't have any issue when moving in this way. Further refinement and testing is required to make the game viable but the premise is quite funny and the motion is very intuitive. Please check out the video for further details!
