Vault-Tec engineers have worked around the clock on an interactive reproduction of Wasteland life for you to enjoy from the comfort of your own vault. Included is an expansive world, unique combat, shockingly realistic visuals, tons of player choice, and an incredible cast of dynamic characters. Every minute is a fight for survival against the terrors of the outside world – radiation, Super Mutants, and hostile mutated creatures. From Vault-Tec, America’s First Choice in Post Nuclear Simulation.

Description

The Garden of Eden Creation Kit (GECK) allows you to edit and create any data for use with Fallout 3. The GECK is used to create game content for Fallout 3. The data is stored in data files that are read by the game. The GECK allows you to create your own areas (towns, dungeons, etc.) and populate them with your own characters, creatures, items, and stories.

The level editor is rather fiddly for my tastes in regards to moving around in 3D space, the video tutorial guy doesn't seem to have any problems though so maybe just me.

Also now know why every underground section looks same, its all built using predefined sections plonked together for majority by looks of it.

Things seem to move easier if you increase the sensitivity of your mouse.

You can also right-click on an empty space in the render window, go to Properties, then Movement and increase the movement speed.

Yeah I tried all that but the view rotating was still horrible, was impossible for me to get some sort of side view to move things vertically, also the WASD movement just doesn't work either, I think I'll stick with mapping for others games.

True pressing C when you have something selected, it cycles through various side/top/angle views. Quite useful. Also T goes straight to top view.

I agree though, it is somewhat awkward to move around in. I couldn't get WASD movement to work either.

The WASD keys arnt ment for movement is why they arnt working for you

Considering the XBox is Microsoft too do you think the items you make on the GECK will work on the XBox version of Fallout 3 too?

No because just look at Oblivion, Microsoft has always been against modding (even though they're starting to shift with the success of Halo forge, and Little Big Planet) especially so on their consoles so I highly doubt that the GECK files would work...

Pfff, man...
Constructing level from boxes and barrels while using your gamepad is NOT MODDING.
SDK and editor with huge capabilities like this one - THIS is MODDING.

For example, dumbed down Far Cry 2 editor won't allow you to do anything but another copy of someone else's map just with building and ammo in different places.
In good editors like HAMMER you can make top-down Arcanoid w\o codding.
Feel the difference.

He's talking about mods being playable on the 360, not actual modding on the console. Now that would be great.

There was a patch released for that bug a few days after the game came out.

no i already figured out what caused it after i downloaded the patch, so the patch might have fixed other crashes but it was the low karma that was messing me up the most

Thank God - I was starting to get a little worried. The lack of mods in Bioshock was a real let down and I was a bit reluctant to buy this game because it didn't quite support them yet. I'm definitely picking it up now!

With the mention that an editor won't be released with Bioshock, did you really expect mods for it?

I doubt you even bought the game for the mod capabilities.

I bought Bioshock because it was an excellent game, but I hadn't been following it's news so I didn't know modding wouldn't be possible. I'm just saying it would have been a lot better if people had a chance to make mods for it.

Okay guys, I want to see a Huge Weapon Pack with new Model Meshes and sounds, more clothing to spruce up the already varied clothing choice, and a mod that takes place in LA/SoCal.

$350 to those that get it done first with a good visual presentation (in-game representation)

Yeah, this method is also more better performance-wise and it saves a great deal of time for the developers - the fact that alot of the game is put together using premade models by the artists and (as far as I can see) no real csg makes it easier for modders and people who prefer snapping the pieces together like a jigsaw rather than draw up the pieces by themselves from scratch.

There is no compiling necessary this way.

...noob. it is free... and you cannot use it on the PS3... there is no such thing as mod creating on consoles. you can do it on a computer. hell you can even copy the folders over to use on a console... but you cannot use the GECK or any other SDK on a console.
