TECHNICAL ISSUES
Installer
The installer requires that you have administrative rights on the computer
(applies only to Windows 2000 and Windows XP or later). Please advise your
system administrator to install the demo of the game for you.
16-bit mode
For best visual quality, avoid running the game in 16-bit mode. In 16-bit mode,
polygons may flicker in the distance, dithering artefacts may appear and some
special effects relying on pixel shaders will be disabled.
Anti-aliasing
Enabling full screen anti-aliasing in the driver on NVidia GeForce cards may
cause the computer to lock up under certain configurations.
Fog
On some cards supporting vertex shaders fog artefacts may appear on the horizon
or in the sky. To avoid this you can disable vertex shaders at the loss of some
special effects (water and dynamic lighting). To disable vertex shaders add the
line "d3d8_enablevertexshaders=0" to the file "environment.cfg" found in the
root of the install directory.
Water
On Radeon 8500 and Matrox Parhelia the water surfaces don't render correctly
(using the current drivers at the time of writing). This is a driver issue.
Until new drivers have been released that solves this problem you can disable
pixel shaders to minimize the problem. To do this add the line
"d3d8_enablepixelshaders=0" to the file "environment.cfg" found in the root of
the install directory.
Radeon 8500
Radeon 8500 exhibits z-buffer problems with latest drivers (Windows 2000/XP
6.13.10.6200C, Windows 98/ME 4.13.01.9069). Please use the previous drivers
(Windows 2000/XP 6.13.10.6166C, Windows 98/ME 4.13.01.9062) or updated drivers
that work.
Troubleshooting
- If the demo of the game crashes on start-up, try installing the latest
software drivers for your hardware devices (e.g. video card).
- If you have low system RAM (less than 128 MB), and you are experiencing
virtual memory access during the game, you should make sure that:
a) There are no other applications running in the background while you play
Enclave demo.
b) That your "Texture Resolution" sliders (in texture options) are not set to
the highest setting.
- Key presses sometimes get stuck when you press 3 or more keys at the same
time. To solve this, press once again the key that caused the problem.
GAME PERFORMANCE ISSUES
Known issues regarding the performance or speed of the demo of the game are
listed in this section.
Configuring your settings for optimum performance
The following steps are recommended to optimize game performance.
* Download and install the latest drivers for your sound card, video card, and
motherboard.
* Download and install the latest Windows updates and service packs.
* Make sure your AGP bus is properly configured in the BIOS.
* Be sure to download and install the latest AGP drivers.
* Monitor your system's performance when using antivirus software and during
other system processes.
* Make sure you have installed bus-mastering drivers for your IDE controller.
* Use a disk defragmenter tool on a regular basis to maintain optimal system
performance.
* Try the Graphics settings and Texture settings in modifying Enclave demo to
better match your system's capabilities.
