This is the first map I have ever made for DooM. I used GZDoom Builder. Use of Brutal Doom or Project Brutality is strongly recommended. Use with DooM 2. Any and all feedback is greatly appreciated.

For a first map:

Congrats! This is probably one of the best "first maps" out there.
You've used mazes, backtracking, hubs, multiple keys and many secrets. All put into and used at least with a competent understanding of how they should be used.
You've put in a steady amount of detail (The maze and skylights) for it to look at least decent. I've only got a couple of issues and that's textures and monster placement.

Albeit fairly detailed in some areas, using the vanilla textures thoroughly can feel pretty bland. Monster placement feels overcompensating, it's like they were all squashed into areas in such a CQB themed map. The "Hell" part of the level would have been better if it was a larger laboratory or a larger techbase area in my opinion.

Needless to say, this was a highly impressive first map. Since this is your first, I can only imagine how much better you'll get down the line.

The texturing could be better, at first the whole map was very vanilla textured with "Hell Arena" thing being the end. This map is pretty much me starting with one room and learning as it went, experimenting with various ideas, room and sector types so the feeling of things being squashed together comes from the fact that it kinda is as I tried to have a go at almost everything in one map.

It was a fun learning experience for me and I'm glad it's enjoyable. I do hope I'll get better.

Edit: On a side note, it took me around 20 hours total to make this, start to finish.

If that's a first map then I can't wait to see your future works!

It definitely feels somewhat basic and would be obviously even better with more work and experience but gameplay length is just right, it's diversified in both height and environment type and it's well-balanced in terms of items placement. The only cons I saw were the overused texture in the main base area and some monster placements especially in the maze where some were not triggered (probably waiting to ambush the player but it becomes obvious after the second dead-end). Other than that it's super awesome!

And yes, the monsters in the maze wait to ambush the player which does become obvious in certain places, it could have been executed better.

Well, I played DooM a lot, I've sunk days into it so I like to think I have at least some basic understanding of what DooM Map should be like, I had a goal of creating a Map I thought was good. If I didn't find it good, I'd never share it. I only shared it because somehow, I finished it, played it and thought, "Yeah, I think this is actually good, I wonder if other people will agree."

Awesome job on the map! I only wish I would've played it sooner, but I guess it's better late than never. I sincerely hope that you decide to make more maps, because I have not had this much fun playing a singular map in a LONG time. It has the professional quality to it, and it's only a first map? You, my good sir, are prodigy.

EDIT: This ONLY took 20 hours? I couldn't make something better or as big in a week.

I'm working on another standalone map, so I guess we'll see if I can keep it up. I've since learned how to create custom props, add custom textures, animations, sounds and script events with ACS and I'm making use out of that in there. Hopefully the end result will also be fun to play through.

Update: The download now includes a 1.1 version of the map with more ammo pickups, making it possible to complete it even without any mods. The 7z. still has the originally uploaded version there too (Which was tested with Project Brutality and I never ran out of ammo there).

Update 2: Download now includes a v2 of the map. I decided to Enhance it with some custom Textures and Props as well as do some minor alterations to certain areas of the map so they look and play better, namely the Outdoors segment and Crate Labirynth. This is my final update for this map.
