Minigames

Most events and activities are represented as minigames. They are still rough and undeveloped, but we will focus our efforts on improving them now that the narrative frame of the game is final.

Alien Ruins

Breach Minigame

When your team has to breach into a complex, such as the city ship's module, a derelict ship in orbit, an abandoned outpost on a planet or an ancient tomb, you will control them and monitor their progress on a map that represents the interior of the structure.

The complex is usually filled with various hazards and hostiles that your team must circumvent, eliminate or even use to their advantage, but also with helpful devices, control terminals and loot.

Survey Minigame

When encountering a large geological formation, such as a mountain, a cave, a plateau or a crater, your team may attempt to traverse and investigate it in search of minerals, data and other treasures.

A survey usually takes several days, but you can select a faster pace to shorten the time. Because provisions are spent along the way and the carrying capacity of the team is limited, shortening the time also increases the potential range of the expedition.

Asteroids Minigame

Some solar systems are surrounded by asteroid belts, which the shuttle must pass through with as little damage as possible. As you travel through the belt, you select the asteroids that your weapons focus on, prioritising the red flashing asteroids as they are on trajectory to hit the ship.

The ship collects the smaller pieces of broken asteroids with multiple short-range tractor beams. The collected minerals are sold off, but they also allow an insight into the mineral composition of the solar system.

The rings that surround some planets may also be mined in a similar fashion.

To be continued...

These are some of the minigames of Corona Celestia. Others will be explained in the articles to follow.

Like the art! The UI reminds me of Star Trek a bit.
