I guessing that this is going to be a game like Second Life just with a lot more to do and have a set objective. Also as it is going to be a MP game have you thought about server cost as that can get expensive for you. Will there also be an offline mode planned for the game because not everyone likes MP only games.
I don't see how single player could work on an economy system that is determined by player interaction. Multiplayer is the way to go with this tbh.
it could work as the AI could trade things with other AIs and anything you do would effect them. Kind of like in GTA 5 with the assassination missions for Franklin people found out if you buy stock in the companies early and sell them after the mission is complete then you could make a lot of money off of them.
