This is a custom CTF map created by Ace_Rimmer for Chrome's multiplayer.
This map was originally created by Ace_Rimmer for the game Chrome. It was originally featured on Chrome's website in the mid 2000s. It has been mirrored here for archival purposes. The original readme is as follows.
Pit V1.1
Due to either a Multiplayer Chrome bug (or limitation) or a problem with the editor, the walkers do not work properly with force field fences. There are unexpected results upon contact with the fence. This same problem also exists in rimmerbahn, so I will be reissuing that map as well.
I have checked the maps and there is nothing wrong with anything I have done. It probably explains why we never see forcefield fences and walkers on a MP map!(there is one apart from Rimmerbahn actually and that map also has problems with the walker contacting the fence). It works fine with cars though, which is odd :)
There is no way for me to fix this so I have redone the map and made some improvements (I hope). Please also get the new version of Rimmerbahn.
Unfortunately, some objects in chrome just don't work in the Multiplayer game, but the editor doesn't tell you which ones they are! So you find out by experience and trying things out with patient testers. I hope I havn't made too many mistakes
if you have a \data\levelsnet\Pit directory, you should delete it then follow the instructions below:
Easy install, just create a directory in your \data\levelsnet directory called Pit
\data\levelsnet\Pit
Then place all the files in this zip file in that directory (including the lmaps.zip file).
Do NOT unzip the lmaps.zip file
The first time you run the map it's slow to load whilst it builds the .raw file from the lightmaps, after that it's much quicker.
The recommended map settings are unknown, so try what you feel is right.
If you really trust me, just place the archive in your chrome directory and extract the archive to that directory and let winnzip create the correct directory structure for you.
