Screen Recording Software Thread

Can someone recommend me a good one as using fraps the size is too large and using camstasia you can't get the cursor to go away, tried camstudio but it sucked and didn't work properly. Fraps doesn't work for old games and camstasia didn't work properly either so im stuck on which to get so can anyone help me out here as I need a reliable program that someone can actually say that it works and records everything.

The secret about FRAPS large filesize is that you have to re-render the video in some other software.. (for that I would use Blender, but it can be tricky for inexperienced users..)
Well as far as I know, and from my experience FRAPS is the best one.. Also, it turns out that VLC media player can record screen as well, though I havent used it (Ive seen some videos recorded by it, and the quality was quite good)

Try Debut: Video recording software(just type that down in google) Pretty easy to use and nifty.

Have a look at Dxtory.com . Best one I have found so far, you can set it to use an encoder in the settings as well resulting in smaller output files but at the cost of cpu usage (pays off for less demanding games tho).

Obviously you use another program such as windows live movie maker and change the resolution and bitrate to make it go smaller but then again you still have to wait for your 10 GB file to be processed into a smaller file.

I'll try debut and Dxtory out and see how it goes. Thanks for your suggestions.

ActivePresenter is a good free one. It is quite complicated but flexible.

Bandicam is a good game recorder. I prefer fraps over Bandicam, but if I ever have trouble with fraps(quite often), then Bandicam is there to save the day! The only problem is Bandicam has a watermark if you use the free version. It is $39.99 for the full version of it, which is a little high, but decent for what your getting. It also makes smaller files when recording! Hope I could help!

Recently discovered Hypercam 3.0 probably one of the best I've seen..

I use MSI Afterburner, it is free, just set shortcut for screen capturing and you should be good.

Keystroke Spy Monitor is screen capture software which I have been using for a long time. you should have try this nice tool.

I use afterburner as well. It works great and is free!

I say: FRAPS

I use a freeware called hypercam.. it give you the option to turn off mouse clicks or record mouse position. and of course its the best price.. free.
