Improved rendering of mirrors. Here three pointing in different directions. Still needs work on the speed front but it's getting better.
I think one thing about mirrors is that they are never perfect. So you could make them a bit uneven or less uniform.
I'll see what I can do there. Problem is that using the mirror texture property the scene is actually rendered as if looking through a window opening. I might be able to add a bit of distortion like behind transparent objects. Adds to the render cost but I'll try to figure out something.
How about simply overlaying a dirtmap or something like that, instead of distorting the actual image? Just so the mirror has a little bit of texture to separate it from identical backgrounds.
For something like that I've got plans.
What if you put a box model in front of it, with a distorted texture, and not allow the mirror to render the box. Then you get a distorted mirror, you could also make a broken mirror distorted texture.
sorry, posted this without reading all the commments.. ehh im tired, still loving this engine!
speaking of broken mirrors, a nicely made broken mirror texture complete with wood backing, behind the broken shards would make a nice effect.. but certain mirror bits should take on random directions of reflection.. hope that makes sense, good luck! :D
