Do I drop the Unification_Bugfix folder in the soulstorm ? What does "point to your main Soulstorm folder" means?

if any of you are having troubles with installing unification (in-general, be it with the google drive, MEGA or with the torrent version) do this:

1) Once you've downloaded the *Unification-v5.9.0-Full.1.exe* file here on moddb from the files section. Drag the .exe to the root directory of the soulstorm-games file (that being the folder which contains the soulstorm.exe in it) ((pro-tip: the "Unification_bugfix" that will spawn from this is the main game mod folder for Unification))

2) Once done, you want to *first* run this "full installer" (the Unification-v5.9.0-Full.1.exe file you've just downloaded) with administer privileges; do this by right clicking the mouse, selecting properties in the pop-up context menu, then going into the "Compatibility" tab in the new pop-up menu that has opened once you have selected this said "Properties". after you've done that; tick off the box that says: "Run this program as an administrator".

3) let the installer do what it does, it should find the game root directory itself, automatically (but if you have the tyranids mod already due to ApocalypseMod, delete it or move it somewhere if you still want to play with AM, as the AM one is an old version of it and unification uses a newer version of it that is in the launcher and if you already have the DOW manager no need to re-install it).

4) after this: do the same for the "Unification-v5.9.1-Patcher.exe" aswell, (you can also try this if you want to, if it still doesn't work: you can copy the data folder within the "Unification_Patch" and paste it into the "Unification_bugfix").

5) Now download the torrent version *OR* the other 2 parts of the google drive downloads (from what I can tell) it is "The Unification Race Mods v5.9.0(Modb release only) one and The Unification Core Files v5.9.0(Modb release only) one" now open the torrent version (((if your are using that one))) with winrar or 7zip or whatever and extract the two module files that are there in it (the Unification_New_Races.module and the Unification_Bugfix.module) copy and paste them into the root directory of the soulstorm file. (once again it is the file that contains the soulstorm.exe within it)).

6) After all that, once the torrent version (i'll use the torrent version since it's the one I used and know how to install) is downloaded. the folder (Unification_Bugfix) will appear there in your downloads, now copy and paste the contents of what is inside *OF THAT FILE* into the one that says "Unification_bugfix" (the one that should've been spawned, when you used the "Unification-v5.9.0-Full.1.exe installer" from earlier), from there on a progress bar should pop up telling you the progress of it and and a pop-up box will show up when it is done, during the end of it. it should say "do you want to overwrite the previous existing file(s) like that or something", say no and select "skip these files" instead.

7) select the "Unification_bugfix" option in the dow manager then click "start mod".

8) it should work for you now. (don't be afraid of the splash screen that says "Ultimate Apocalypse", you didn't do anything wrong), Note: this is how I got mine to work, results may very.

9) Profit, hopefully Enjoy the mod.

10) Merry Christmas and have a very happy new year, cheers amigo's.

To anyone reading this in the future:
This is really wrong and really over-complicated (tho the poster's heart is probably in the right place).

this is one of those: it might have worked in the end by the grace of Tzeentch kinda of things.

Please read the official installation instructions or watch a installation vid instead (for using installers. NOTE: you don't use an installer for the torrent installation method).

Ask in discord tech-support if you have any issues.
or check this resource out:

How was that "really wrong and over complicated" here Oyun, if I were to ask?:
When this set-up procedure was how *I* got *my own* copy of Unification to work. When I tried all those installation vids and none of them worked. And how is it also "overly-complicated" here when I have gone into specifics (right down to the actions one has to take I may add) of how to do so... you can't get more simpler then this:
"do this by right clicking the mouse, selecting properties in the pop-up context menu, then going into the ""Compatibility"" tab in the new pop-up menu that has opened once you have selected this said ""Properties"". after you've done that; tick off the box that says: ""Run this program as an administrator""

I think you misunderstood. I'm saying that the things you say are wrong, not how you say them. It *is* overcomplicated since there are superfluous, unnecessary and downright counter productive steps. It also does things backwards and is just plain wrong.
For example:

1) the 5.90 installer has no files yet you for some reason start with downloading it, moving it and then running it.
1a) The installer does not need to be in soulstorm folder.
1b) The installer does *nothing* for a torrent installation since 1c) it reads 7z archives in the folder it is located in. So using it with torrent + moving it, and running it by itself, without the archives it uses... yeah.
Layers of wrong. .
And it does nothing to aid in the installation. You know what that move does? creates a bugfix folder, a few subfolders and copies 39 files from dxp2 and then dumps them in the wrong place.

2) At several points you have 5.91 files and then either overwrite, or nearly overwrite respectively, with 5.90 files (step 5 and 6), needless to say that is not a good thing. Btw if you missclick on step 6 and do overwrite: 417 5.91 files gets overwritten by 5.90 files. And why on earth do it backwards by first having patch files and then applying the files the patch patches? Even if you pull it off: overcomplicated and backwards af.

3) Since you have 5.90 modules with your method (will say 6.0) that means you cannot use any of the addons. Also you will have multiplayer issues and maybe issues such as last space marine stronghold beacon not spawning correctly. The details depends on what is in the patch folder (which your way of doing things will not be applied) and what was patched into the data files (which will be applied as long as you don't click "overwrite")

4) "Launch bugfix". Why recommend that? why not recommend playing with 100% as opposed to 30% of the mod?

There are more things but this is already a wall of text.

Glad you got it to work (it's not working fully as intended tho) but it is not something anyone should do ever. And the more steps the more chance of people getting one wrong. I know this since I have had homebrew BS installation guides quoted to me in tech support.

I stand by what i said above, since you literally have a hodgepodge of 5.90 and 5.91 files, did many more steps than necessary, and do things backwards. That you describe how to do this in a very detailed manner doesn't make things better.

People should follow the instructions found in
- several installation vids (caldaris, lyzokiel, poncha) (covers installer method)
- the "read more" of the files
- the moddb manual install article
- the moddb article that explains installer installation,
- the FAQ1 on discord (has all methods)
- the wiki article. (has manual and installer method)

And ask on discord tech-support if they get issues.

How to install torrent?
1) download torrent file, run using torrent client, that creates a folder called "unification bugfix".
2) move said folder to soulstorm folder when download is complete.
3) download and run 5.91 patcher (yes, you can skip copying the torrent modules since 5.91 patcher has modules in it and replaces them anyway)
4) download and run 0.5b3 tyranid installer
5) download and extract mod manager to soulstorm folder.

Done.
you turned that 5 point paragraph into a giant 10 step essay. I.e overcomplicated it.

PS. I'm sure you had good intentions. Not saying anything about that. And i have seen worse homebrew installation guides (again: speaking about content, not phrasing or text structure)

Man, I have another question. See, the game's running perfectly, I'm currently playing Campaign, and there's this beeping sound whenever I view my camera on certain units. Is there a way to take the beeping off?

Shouldn't be any beeping at all, that sounds like something wrong in the installation. Beeping is missing sounds files.

Then you didn't do it right.
download torrent.
put the folder it creates in soulstorm folder.
download run 5.91 patcher
download and run tyranid 0.5b3 installer.
download and put mod manager in soulstorm folder.
This is torrent installation way.

But then what? Using the DoW mod manager I have to choose Tyranid mod or Uni mod. I can't play them together and isn't that the point?

There is no "then what" :) Tyranids are included.
Select "unification new races" in the left pane and "start mod".
You will see on the right pane that it calls tyranids.
No merging.

Well.for everyone slightly convinced that the installation is pretty basic SO if you copy paste the torrent files v5.9.0 like the 14 gb ones just into the game directory DON'T WORRY just install the newest exe patch v5.9.1 that creates the Unification_Bugfix folder open again the torrent file v5.9.0 just to check the containing files to perfectly execute in the right way of the moving the torrent file files from plain directory to the Unification_Bugfix folder no fuss for replacing the files just run again v5.9.1 patch exe done .
