Great!

I've tested the three new units and they do look awesome!

Vichy France/Republic of France has gotten two new artillery units that look super cool.

USA has gotten a new plane - the corsair.

Planes seem to cause a gamelock whenever firing at each other so that will need som fixing if they are going to be in the campaign. As there is no way of avoiding planes to face planes if two sides have access to them. For now it could be avoided by adding it to just Japan, or by making sure the Corsairs are just in use in areas where Japan ain't present.

But that is a real issue at a later stage.

Looking at the new map i think it's very good that you've removed a lot of regions/settlements in areas where there were no fighting during WW2 in favor of areas where fighting took place - i can see a much more interesting Asian theatre now.

In the first demo Thailand attacked China, and India attacked Thailand - with the new map this is more unlikely as Japan and Britain has taken much of their lands.

One thing i didn't like in the new map is that most cities in Europe and elsewhere has ancient wooden or stone walls. In the first demo you had added the same settlements without any walls - which is better for the WW2 era.

Not sure why walls were added as that was an unnecessary change in my book. Otherwise looking great =).

Hmm that is why I disabled both planes in custom battles for now. Dont know about walls. But I do know that it doesnt matter. When we change the cities we are also changing the walls.

I see. I've added temporary units to the minor factions and main factions to make them more ready in the demo. Like adding British snipers and assault squads to the USA, while adding antitank units, mortars and artillery from US to the British Empire.

France has shared it's infantry-unit with Vichy France and has gotten American/British placeholders.

Finland has gotten German placeholders. I am not done, but they do only borrow neutral units so no elite tanks or such. They do borrow the lowest ranking tanks.

Finland got an SS unit as there were Nordic SS battalions in the war on the Eastern Front - they would be finnish/Danish/French/Norwegians and Swedes who volunteered - fighting for Germany, but as they were fighting beside Finnish soldiers on the battlefield and RTW has limits it's better from my point of view to simulate that by adding them to Finland.

By doing this all factions can be played in custom battles. I am making armies varied by removing certain units and adding specific ones for all. But i am not choosing the best for any minor factions, and not letting Britain borrow the best stuff from the uS etc. France don't share it's best unique artillery neither.

The campaign will be more interesting this way too. Recruitment isn't done so i will just let everyone start with huge armies in every region and then when they are spent they get no more.

Of course this is done to test things and for personal fun. If i bother to do any recruitment in my personal version, i will of course change the armies at the start to be more like the size in history and placed out correctly on the map. But recruitment could mean spaming of certain units as well - with all armies available at least they are all varied.

Sure you can do all that stuff, but next time ask me for it. Dont let anyone use your configuration, as it is not allowed by us. But for the rest: nice work :)

Yeah i know, usually if someone is doing private edits (no release) permission is not needed as the developers cannot control what anyone does to their own copy.

However, of course i won't upload anything as i read edits are not allowed - which usually means no sharing of edited files.

Yeah thanks, i am going to record some playing when done.

where am I supposed to put this? im using the steam version so the installer says path not found and I have to pick the destination manually, RTW Gold Mods folder, or the BI folder inside the RTW mods folder?

Mod needs to be placed in both the main directory of your Rome Total War Gold Edition, and in the BI-folder.

Also, you'd need to do some edits.

"Steam needs players to go to the Steam library, then right click "Rome Total War", then click on "Egenskaper" at the bottom but will be a different english word similar to characteristics but probably not that one - as Google Translate showed it but i think it is wrong.

Then when clicked on one has to click on the "set starting alternative" and then once there add the line: -nm 1942 -show_err -mod:bi\1942

But the mod also need to be (the full mod) in both the C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Rome Total War Gold folder, and in the C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Rome Total War Gold\BI-folder.

So Steam needs two versions."

Background might be vanilla with new title for Steam. Should still work.
