Full release of Roar of Conquest 3.0, stand-alone installation.
Here is the 3.0 release for Roar of Conquest! There are a whole host of changes from version 2.1. For a detailed changelog, refer to this article here: Roar of Conquest 3.0 Change Log To give credit where it is due, my mod incorporates, (and has changed), the following mods:
This mod is a stand-alone release, which means that you do not need to have Stainless Steel 6.4 installed in order for this mod to work.
Please note that if you have previously installed Roar of Conquest 2.1, this file will serve as a replacement; it will not update version 2.1 of Roar of Conquest. My recommendation would be to delete version 2.1 before installing version 3.0, if for no other reason than to save disk space on your computer.
Enough tongue-wagging, onto the instructions!
1) After downloading Roar of Conquest, unzip the folder.
2) When you have unzipped the folder, find the location of your mod folder in Medieval II Total War on your computer. It should look something like this: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Medieval II Total War\mods
3) Drag the Roar of Conquest folder into the mod location in Medieval II. Once you're done, the file location should look like this: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Medieval II Total War\mods\Roar of Conquest 3.0
4) When you open Roar of Conquest 3.0 in it's location, you will find a shortcut already there and ready to use! Just drag it out onto your desktop and it will launch the game, provided you have done the following:
Included in this upload is the map reset batch file that was previously it's own download, so you will not have to do separate downloads. If your campaign does not seem to be loading properly, try running this batch file first and see if it fixes the problem.
I have also included a Large Address Aware app in this download, along with a text file, title 'LAA', instructing you how to use it. Basically, the file allows your game to use more memory than the original Medieval II engine allowed, which prevents your game from crashing because your campaign or battle exceeds the hardcoded memory limitations of the original game.
And now you are done! I hope you enjoy the game and that you will find this download easier than the previous installation.
If you are experiencing any crashes or problems in your mod, please locate the 'system.log' file located here: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Medieval II Total War\mods\Roar of Conquest 3.0. Open the file using Notepad, and then copy whatever text is on the log. Paste this information in you bug report to me; this will help me out enormously in trying to help you guys fix the problem. Thanks in advance!
Edit: Please paste the log report at this Discord link: Discord.com under the text channel roc_bug_reports
Missed where you said to post the report.
I did enjoy it, a lot. And being able to recruit generals is something I always look for. But I get to a point in the campaign (I played the Byzantines) and it would just CTD in the middle of my turn.
Could you provide what the 'system.log' said? If not, my guess is that you need to run the Large Address Aware, or LAA, for Roar of Conquest. The instruction for that are included in the description under the Installation Guide.
Looking into that, but another issue I have is that when I drag the shortcut from the mod folder onto the desktop and launch from there, I get first; "Config file does not exist! Unable to find a .cfg file in the current directory. Launcher has created a new .cfg file.
After; "Steam detected! Steam has been detected on your computer. If you have steam version of Kingdoms press Yes, otherwise press No."
I press Yes, obviously. Then it would launch vanilla version. Yes, I already have the "create copy kingdoms" thing for the main game. And in the mod folder, it launches just fine.
Hmm...a workaround to getting a working shortcut on your desktop would be to go into here: 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Medieval II Total War\mods\Roar of Conquest 3.0', select the 'Roar of Conquest' application file, right click it, and then select the option "Create Shortcut". You should then be able to drag the created shortcut out onto your desktop, and it should work just fine.
That worked for the shortcut, thanks!
Okay, it just crashed again. The system log says this;
20:35:28.634 [system.rpt] [always] CPU: SSE2
20:35:28.634 [system.rpt] [always] ==== system log start, build date: Sep 5 2014 version development ===

20:35:28.634 [system.io] [always] mounted pack packs/data_2.pack

20:35:28.634 [system.io] [always] mounted pack packs/data_4.pack
20:35:28.634 [system.io] [always] mounted pack packs/localized.pack
Is that everything? If not, could you go to here: Discord.com so we could continue the troubleshooting?
It was everything. But I've found that saving like once a turn, seems to keep it stable enough. Hasn't crashed since I started doing that.
Brilliant mod, thanks very much
Very nice work!
