Half Life 2: Raising the Bar REDUX: Division 2 Demo Release
To celebrate the fourth anniversary, we are making a special release - today, a snippet of what to expect from Division 2! Whilst we'd originally been planning a release in 2021, there was just too much to do for that to happen - however, 2022 will be a busy year for us, and this kicks things off!
Before going into the demo, please bear in mind the following disclaimer:
This demo indicates a close-to-final but not yet finalised version of the first six maps of Division 2. There are still issues present, known and unknown, that will be attended to prior to the final release of Division 2. A list of known issues can be found over on our Discord server's feedback channel.
HOTFIX 20/02/22:
- Fixed low framerates in Outercanals01
- Fixed low framerates in Outercanals03
- Fixed crash between Outercanals02 and Outercanals03 loading zones
- Added new Houndeye SFX

To install:
1. Download Source SDK Base 2013 Singleplayer
2. Right click in your library and select properties
3. Navigate to the "betas" tab and select the branch as "upcoming"
4. Unzip the downloaded zip file
5. Drag the RaisingTheBarRedux_Div2_Demo folder and its contents into your Sourcemods folder in your root steam directory
6. Restart Steam
7. The mod should now appear in your Steam library.
Cannot wait to see more of what Half-Life 2 would have been. Great work to all of you!

I can't believe how perfect everything about this mod is...
I love it keep it up.
Just played it and holy mother of god is all I can say it's so good. One nasty bug I've encountered is scanner turning invisible with just the light of it floating around and blinding you.

Getting a constant crash the moment I get close to the light stocks.
First off, the gameplay is fantastic, the guns I believe are well balanced and so are the enemies. There are a couple areas where I think their AI could be improved but other than that they're great. My only real complaint is the heavy performance drop when in the Airboat escaping through the Canals from the hunter-chopper along with just that general area of the map towards the end of the demo when you're outside. To phase out the possibility of it being my specs, here they are, Ryzen 5 3600 3.6ghz, Geforce RTX 2070S and Hyperx Fury 32gb DDR4. So, if the performance drop is corrected, I'd have little to no complaints with it so far, keep up the excellent work!
The lighting needs work, I could barely see the CPs and soliders
Oh my god, what a mod. What class. All the hard work put into this, you must get a green light. One issue I have so far, is after you throw the grenade through the air duct, kill npc's then there is a goody box on the rack. I jumped on the grey tanks, and slipped of got myself stuck in the corner. I tried for ages to get out to no avail.
About graphic issues. Personally, I didn't have any. It takes me about a month to get the settings right, after I upgrade my GPU. I use shaders on some games, but yours didn't need it, it looked absolutely awesome. Thank you.
The Lighting was perfect.
Way too dark
A lot of the time I can't tell what is shooting me or where, this is very bad towards the end of the demo
Driving the boat was very difficult due to serious performance issues despite having a 2080ti and i9-10900k. FPS showed 100fps or more yet felt like 10 at times. The Apc's need their rockets spaced out a bit and the helicopter is actually fully harmless to the boat.
Another issue is the bullsquids take two smg clips to kill and you put them in such tiny areas that they can easily slaughter a player who doesnt have near full health upon seeing them. The pistol also skips firing sounds sometimes and only plays 1 effect with the secondary attack which seems to be burst mode?

Loving it so far! However, the mod crashes right after I get the gun upgrade on the boat every time. So i am unable to progress any further.
Hi, this is due to a level progression bug we’ve documented now from the wider testing this demo allowed. Go very slowly through the tunnel after you get the gun into the next level and it should just about work
just played Div 2 Demo, it's absolutely amazing! One side effect is that Div 1.2 now kind of pales in comparison. Will we be getting an update for Div 1.2 later to match Div 2?

Please check the installation instructions and ensure SDK 2013 Singleplayer is set to the Upcoming beta branch in the properties tab.
The performance is real bad with this one aswell. I think you guys should focus on optimizing the mod before focusing on more content.

I'm having trouble installing this mod. Do I have to have half life 2 and episode 2 installed in my steam library for this mod to work? I have sdk 2013 installed and it on upcoming setting. Anyone else having problems installing the game and having it appear in your steam library?
Im wondering if this is gonna be a true hl2 beta in full story form will it have the air exchange because we all know its not a true real beta without it.
One of the best HL2 mod I have ever played. And I have played more than 30 mods. Very very good job, congratulation to the all team.
The airboat was really annoying to drive (by annoying I mean that it takes a lot of time trying to steer comparing to the original hl2 airboat) and the older pistol was better (better firerate), otherwise this was a really cool demo, but I seriously hope you guys fix the issues I mentioned.
I fallowed the install instructions to a T and the mod is not installed on steam at all.

Hi! First impressions weren't too good but I waited to see your stream and play with the patch before commenting. After playing through it a few times now, I like it much more now!
I made a list of issues I could find, ranging from minor to major, objective to subjective etc:
- Biggest criticism on the list: Maps in general are WAY too dark. I assume they're meant to be dim to set the atmosphere but there's lots of rooms with fire in them and they're still way too dark to see anything without the flashlight. Even tunnels at daytime are so dark I can barely see where I'm going when I'm in the boat.
- Skybox clouds could move slower (maybe half the current speed, it looks unrealistically fast and a bit distracting)
- The fight right after you get the AK feels like you can unintentionally cheese it by just crawling back through the vent and shoot at everyone's legs while they stand around.
- The part where you're supposed to throw a grenade into an air vent is unclear. Maybe a headcrab can break it's opening and come out of the vent to let the player know they're supposed to look up? (I also didn't notice the grenade crate until my 4th playthrough, too used to HL2's ones I guess!)
- Transition to d2_facility02 feels contrived with the door closing and alarms stopping on their own. Feels like the player should press a button for those things to happen.
- Fighting the Cremator is not fun at all. The player's entire vision is blinded while taking damage, it's hard to tell where to hide or shoot, and even when you hide, you're still taking damage for a while, very disorienting.
- In the Cremator room, after going through the vent and opening the door, it feels weird that soldiers would immediately come through it instead of maybe holding back and wait for you, especially since there's a turret in that room anyway.
- At the start of d2_outercanals01 when you cross the first broken bridge, you can shoot right through the windows into the room.
- In the room where the boat is parked, any prop that falls onto the floor acts like it's falling in water.
- In the tunnel where you break the two walkways those metrocops are standing on, you can easily climb over the broken walkways and get on top of that place and see the void: Puu.sh
- The place where you meet the rebels, you can go through the door the woman comes from and jump down into the water. Getting back up is tricky without a prop, almost feels like softlock potential.
- It feels odd that you can't destroy the chopper with the gun during the chase sequence but later you're supposed to suddenly know to destroy it at the end. Why not let the player destroy the chopper that's chasing you and the chopper at the end could be a different one? Especially during the section where you're supposed to get out of the boat and open the gates while the chopper is there, it doesn't make sense why the player couldn't just jump back into the boat and take out the chopper before opening the gates.
- The bigger gates feel.. off when they're opening. They all start at full speed and stop on a dime. And they're too quiet for how suddenly fast they move and stop.
- Some of the APC rockets don't have any flames so they're almost impossible to see when they're flying towards you..
- The background mountains in the last map are pure white and look like the void in the skybox.
- The "---Redux---" part in the game's title isn't centered. Game literally unplayable.
I hope this helps the team as you guys go forward with the mod!
Yup, this just about highlights all of my issues with the mod plus a lot of things that I hadn't even noticed.
For some reasons, Toxic Water and Skyboxes are missing but everything else is working. Any way I could fix it?

Good mod, but through the canals, you have a chopper tailing the player,
but you don't allow the player to obtain an RPG.
Very difficult to get through the canals with the chopper there...???
Also, you cannot find or give weapon (with cheats) for the crossbow, that would make it a bit easier to pick off the
cops.
Demo was fun BUT... the lag spikes/ fps drops towards the end of the demo is not good.
I have a problem. I have installed the mod, put the mod folder in *sourcemods* , but It doesn't appear in the Steam Library. How can I fix?
So far, I've noticed that the HUD is a little bit glitchy, like the flashlight and aux power being cut off. I'm unable to pick up an extra AK47 ammo and houndeyes automatically die by themselves when I see them. Any solutions? I've reinstalled a couple times and also made sure the SDK settings are also correct

I wish this mod will not be abandoned. I want to see finally full well-working beta version of HL2, which is pretty interesting.
