Upgrades are now limited to the expertise and the faction of the technicians. Toolkits are no longer required.
- No toolkit required. However you still get discounts for doing their quests.
- Foresters prices reduced to normal since toolkits aren't required anymore. It was twice than any other technicians, damn you old thief !
- Now, technicians only have the knowledge to upgrade their factions armors.
- At tier 3 : The Ecolog tech is the only one able to upgrade anomalies protections.
- Cardan is the only one able to install cervomotors into the exoskeletton.
- Nitro is the only one able to install Thermal Image Enhancement and 3rd generation night vision.
- Forester is the only one able to install top tier health saving systems.
- All Technicians are still able to maintain any gears.
- The weapons are now separated into two categories, Westerns and Easterns. Technicians have the same preferences than their factions.
Loner Technician Rookie :
- All novice outfits.
- Sunrise suit, Cs-3a body armor, ecologist guard outfit and monolith suit.
- Steel helmet.
- Gas mask.
- Low Tier weapons.
Bandit Technicians :
- All novice outfits.
- Merc armor, merc armor (bandit) and Berill-5M Armoured Suit.
- Steel helmet.
- Gas mask.
- Low Tier weapons.
Clear Sky Technician :
- All novice outfits.
- CS-1 body armor and CS-2 body armor.
- Sunrise suit, Cs-3a body armor, ecologist guard outfit and monolith suit.
- Steel helmet.
- Gas mask.
- Low tier weapons.
Duty Bar Technician :
- Novice outfit.
- PS5-M Universal Protection.
- PSZ-9d Duty armor.

- Some armor share the same upgrade tree. So certain technicians are able to upgrade armor they shouldn't.
- It can seems weird that someone can upgrade a eastern shotgun but not an western one. It's really just for the sake of gameplay and to force you to travel to get what you want.
- Some code line are missing in the vanilla files making certain upgrade being available where it shouldn't (like one single upgrade available, noticed that for the chaser), just report them to me, it's super easy to fix.
Copy the gamedata into the COP directory.
As long as it doesn't change the upgrade_infos.
Tried it with OWR and AO, didn't encountered any issues. Need further testing. However a small issue for added weapons, like in AO, the chaser is replaced by an eastern weapon (the TOZ-194). But it still going to be only upgradable by tech that do westerns weapons only.
You can use this mod to make your overhauls. Just credit me and send me a cookie.
You can tweak the files if you want to do your own preset. It's damn simple just use false or true. false = no upgrade, true = you can upgrade. Each file is for a technician.

Ok, there are good ideas, but this means that, according to your faction, you won't be able to obtain some upgrades.
Yes this is the idea. I will see how i can ballance it for factions enemies to loners like the monolith or the bandits. WHich dont have access to cardan, nitro or novikov
Every faction with **** techs can go to Forester in Red Forest and pay out the nose for good upgrades :)
I've did dat when i played CoC the first time...
Without any toolkit and other things... ;)

When I first read the changes I was like "Oh boy, another mod to make things harder for no reason. Who wants to deal with going all over the place to upgrade their gear?" but I actually think this is a very nice system.
I'd only suggest one thing, but this one thing is (I'm sure) very complicated and I'm not sure how feasible it is: Add in "Operator manuals" for each weapon platform to give to your faction mechanic.
Example only rarely in stashes, you can find a FM 3-22.9 US Army AR platform operator's manual. This allows your Duty mechanic to work on M4s, M16s, Ar-15s, LR-300s, and HK-416/417 weapons. He needs a week to study the manual and can only do tier 1/2 mods.
Alternatively have Nimble sell them at absurd prices.
Just a thought, it'd be another goal in the sandbox, to have a "Jack of all trades" weapon mechanic at your faction base
That's a good idea and basically it would be the same system than tool boxes but for upgrading only certain weapons.
Unfortunately I don't think I have the skills to do it yet. I'll keep the idea for when I'll know more about loot tables and quests creations.
But for weapons, Loners like Forester, Cardan and Nitro can modify all of them. Whatever it's western or eastern. They are far away from starting locations so I think the distance alone is enough but I can also raise their prices if peoples wants it.
The issue only is when you are enemie to loners. I'll post the complete list so people wont have to download to see.
That wouldn't be that hard really, you'd just have to copy paste some task entries, edit them slightly to fit your task in particular, and then put the entry into items.ltx, and set up the parameters in the upgrade_infos. Regarding how and where to place these though, you'll either need to **** with the all.spawn so they spawn in one particular place, or make it weapon-pack specific, as AO3 and i think all others modify both coc_treasure_manager and trade_nimble.ltx (if nimble is a trader,if he isnt then you'd have to make more dialog options and edit the char_desc_escape.xml)
I could just send you a demo of what i mean, although it'd be for AO3 and nimble selling them/ rare stash drops.

I'm half tempted to write a RPG variant of this myself. Maybe have quests or random discovery of components that allow for specific higher value upgrades.

Ok no issues so far ,but i have sometihng on my mind , as you said i can still bring tools to get discounts on upgrades right ? Well i acccepted the quest of the loner technicians in the cordon , i finded the gunsmith tool ( the weakest version not advanced or anything) , the quest was saying " bring simple tools ", so is that a problem or because some part of upgrades are already available (thx to your addon) he just need the advance gunsmith ?

With AO3 the Duty technician at the bar will upgrade eastern pistols but not eastern rifles like the AKM, or AK-103 for example.
Actually, all eastern pistols other than the Makarovs also cannot be upgraded by the Duty bar tech.
