Improves all Zone textures, from ground to grass to trees to skies to buildings and props and vehicles and NPCs. (Almost) no performance impact.

Call of The Zone is a great mod, but it won't win any beauty contests. Doc apparently didn't much care for looks and made the mod look very vanilla, probably intentionally. It's one of the reasons it runs so well on lower end hardware and it's one of the reasons I tried it to begin with. A nice clean slate to build my own Zone on, you know? But here's the thing: despite being told countless times not to, many people still judge books by their covers and to be brutally honest: Call of The Zone is like a literary classic that many people won't read because its cover is drawn with crayons and it's printed in comic sans.
This addon improves all textures for the Zone we love to live in. I've picked textures from different sources in an attempt to compile a pack of textures that go well together, look nice, and still give Call of The Zone a look that's familiar but distinctly unique while preserving its modest system demands. I think I succeeded, but in the end beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Fortunately, you can try these at no risk because I packed them in database files. Man, I love database files.
Does not affect anomalies, artifacts, explosions, items, weapons etc. The higher quality mutants meshes were included because they have very little to no performance cost, look a lot better, and I don't want to maintain a separate addon for them.
Drag and drop the database folder from this addon into your CoTZ folder. To uninstall just delete the files that start with aa_tznd_ from your database\addons folder. Safe to use with existing saves, safe to uninstall from saves as well. It's fun to enable and disable these to see the difference they make.
It's best to backup and delete the user.ltx and tmp.ltx files and the shaders_cache folder in the appdata folder after installation so the game can generate new ones from the modified default files in this addon. You really want to do this because the bloom and lighting settings in the new files are much nicer.
Does not work with CoTZ+, EAP and Mahzra's Package EAP Edition.
Compatible with everything else. Weather and texture addons may override the textures in this pack, though.
In no particular order, I stole drafted assets from the addons below. Their creators are heroes. Give them some love.
This ugly pipe is why I try other textures. It bothers me so much.
I am thoroughly unbothered by this one.
Uh oh.
Hello hello. One Svarog detector please!
"No thank you." You're so funny, Mahz. Hysterical.
Now that's fresh. Settings used: DX10.1, Medium graphics preset, 50% texture quality, no anti-aliasing, no DoF and no sunshafts, everything else maxed. Runs buttery smooth for me. Those people next door are going to be so jealous!

UPDATED February 23rd, 2024:
Resolved issues below and added HD Mutant Models. They're really not all that HD, it's fine.
----
Issues I am aware of:
> Generators map is ****** [fixed]
Something in the Generators map does not like to be changed. Upon entering the map you will be presented with the most awesome stretched and warped meshes you have ever seen. Delete cotzfolder\database\addons\aa_tznd_l13_generators.db to fix it.
> TOO MUCH BLOOM [fixed]
If the game's too bright and bloomy, open the console in game (~ by default) and type r2_ls_bloom_threshold 0.3 and press Enter. Then save and exit the game to make sure the change sticks.
> TOO MUCH GRASS [fixed]
To reduce the grass density, open the console and type r__detail_density 0.6 and press Enter. Save and exit the game.
Wow nice dude a new addon looks amazing it will wont put that much pressure on the game right and is a new game required for it or not and the textures do look amazing
As far as I can tell this runs about the same as vanilla. It's mostly same-size texture replacements and lighting tweaks.
A new game is not required.
And yeah, it looks awesome. :D
Cotz won't win any beauty contest... Ahaha !!
So true, but now with this pack that looks so beautiful and tight...
Thanks again for another great addition ;)
noice!!
This is good. VERY good! Thanks Mahzra.
the real question is if i can see anything if im using dx8 or not
