Description

This is the new version of the 5to2 map, it is based on the midwich elementary school of the game Silent Hill. I re-textured and re-dimmed some parts, added new sounds and polyobjects. Some bugging about polyobjects "sometimes you can get stuck somewhere tight," but nothing serious. In this package, the old version of the map is present. You can play in the software version, I tested both modes in version 3.0 of zandronum. I hope you enjoy! :D

I'm enjoying this so far, a few minor issues. This script:

... should probably say: I think the power is down.

Checking each locker is a little annoying, perhaps you could have a system where there is a minor clue that a locker can be opened such as the lock missing from the texture. Also the inset locker makes it so you have to stand in just the right place so checking all of them becomes a chore.

I found the first three keys last night but I wasn't sure where to go next, need to keep looking. I see how the doors are labeled when you use them and on the map, but it would cool if you had a little color clue for each keyed door, something very subtle because many of the rooms look exactly the same so backtracking to find a keyed door can be a slight pain. I found the painting and the clock door outside but wasn't sure what I needed to do next.

Speaking of the clock door (uses noclip to open it from the inside just for testing), I had a little trouble fitting through it, could it be ever so slightly wider?

I'm playing with BD v21 GOLD and I noticed the equipment in each locker is a little too high, could you lower them just a little or place a shelf in the center?

Last, the textures such as the wall posters are good but perhaps just a little higher quality than necessary. Reducing them just a little would probably give a performance boost.

Thanks for the words they will be of great help. I had thought about that, people get a little confused with the locals, I thought about using the medallions to guide. The textures, some I reduced the number of pixels, others for people to watch and want to explore the map, . I wanted to fix some things but I will leave to release the new version with the hospital map, someday. Thanks!

I think the second part of the school should be much darker, I used another wad together to have that mood that has in the game, but still the work is great.

Still the best wad I played. Is atmosferic but not a retarded like Harry Mason or other mods trynna feel like SilentHill. It's not funny the ancient way of the horror old games, always annoying with bad mechanics and worst PJ movements...but before that DOOM was starting another feeling so much deeper...when you have the ammo and the strength to destroy demons but you are scared THIS IS THIS MOD, NOT CHANGES THE GAME PLAY, ONLY THE AMBIENT...you can try to beat it with your favorite mutators (where IMO COMPLEXDOOM and DOOMRLA fits perfect because the randomization of guns and monsters but you are not OP like in PB3 4example). I love the mod, all I hope is some day we can recreate all the town but maybe the most enigmatic place, Midwich School, is my favorite WAD sience I've touched!

Ok, just gotta say, THis's one of my FAVORITE maps to play on. There're a bunch of creative ways to set it up with different mods for a fun time, but STILL can't find the right monster pack for it... Anyway, I've tried it with loads of different mods, and one notable thing is that a bunch of enemy spawns are forced to be default monsters in the otherworld part. Not sure if this's intentional, but I tried it with other monster packs, and even lasting light only to get my brains blown away when I'm watching out for ghosts XD

Really love this map! Slight problem though, it doesn't seem to be compatible with the latest GZDoom (currently v4.7.1), as the doors in the first room won't even open.

This is honestly an amazing wad and I loved the creepy atmosphere and the effort that you put into this. I have never played any Silent Hill games before but this makes me wanna look into playing some. 10/10
