The MountainsDogfightExtended.rar file can be unpacked, where you want:

Do not be frightened by the weight (422mo) of the map; It's just the result of using very detailed textures; no more !
- Presentation:
The relief of the map was created, starting from DEM
coming from the north of Italy (Digital Elevation Model);
Then covered with a texture made from aerial orthophotos.

But, the main difference with the first version of the map is that, in LAN, with your friends, you can use all the available space for crazy aerial pursuits or you can also fly more comfortable and enjoy the vision of beautiful landscapes.
In this case, I advise you to completely remove the HUD and the warning message of the combat area: for that, once in the map, open the console, and type this: renderer.drawHud 0

- Gamemode:
In the solo, coop and conquest mode, unlike the first version of the map, you have access to all aircrafts and Choppers, in a more intuitive way: on the ground, some bunkers and missiles Stingers to protect you: minimum of 32 bots are recommended for intensive gameplay.
Furthermore the map is parametrized to allow aircrafts to fly extremely high, much higher than the mountain peaks, here 2145 m.

- Immersion :
i strongly advise the use of a good joystick for flight, as well as, for an even closer experience of reality, using the mousse look.
So the cockpit view becomes panoramic and makes it easier to follow the positions of the opponents: immersion in the game is then greatly improved. Otherwise, the Bf2FreeLook from Kestrel can be usefull if you have a 32 bit computer; and only with the game box.

- Issues;
There are still a few artifacts in spite of the care taken in the realization of the map, problems inherent to the game itself: since this is a 1024x4 map, you will have to remove the dynamic shadows in the video options, and the caracteristic ugly black spots will disappear: something else, do not be surprised if the bots are always suicidal in the mountains, I have failed to tam them; Lol !

Ok, will be waiting. Still have a CTD on this version, I think due to the ground navmesh.
CTD could happend when AI aircraft attack bots on the ground: as there exist no navmesh, and that bots try to react, ai can't understand and it's CTD; my solution is to diminish the nbr. of bots; try it !
It still occurs with 12x12, and the map become too lonely...
Hmmm ! you can try to launch the game in windowed mode, and read the warning when CTD....
The server just shutdown. The AI errors doesn't generate any messages.

I like the map, but the helicopters are basically useless since their purpose is to kill ground soldiers which are mostly not present. But if I remember correctly, the Littlebird has anti air missiles and can be dangerous even to jets. By the way it also has passenger seats and thus can also serve as a way to collect and protect the pilots who were forced to jump out of their planes. Maybe try using the Armored Fury helicopters instead the original ones. The standard kits are also quite useless. There is no need for assault or AT when there are no ground vehicles to fight against. I think that it would be better to replace them with one "Pilot" kit with only knife, pistol, wrench, smoke grenade and parachute, becouse you don't need anything else on this map anyway.

Yes, they definetely are, but the booster pack is part of the vanilla game since 1.5 patch. And helicopters from this pack will definetely be able to do the same work but better. Plus they will be dangerous to both infantry and jets. But I respect that it is your map and your decision to make, not mine.

Your map is Amazing!!!, It has a large landscape, the biggest Map I ever played on Battlefield 2. It also have an incredible view with high quality terrain textures (photo realistic).
For a second, I feel that iam playing different game when on this Map. Since the Map style is totally different than another Battlefield 2 Maps. Again, thank you!.
2nd, I found I little glitch with your map, there is a black flickering texture on some spot (clearly seen at 1:13 on my video test),

Wanna work with SP on this map :) It has a potential.
before navmeshing, we should fill the whole map with objects; create villages, roads, rocks, ... etc. And there will also be the problem of the slope, which sharply divides the navmesh into islands; and nothing simple for vehicles, for the same reason; difficult ! but you can try the infantry version here: there is a small navmesh on a village area; Moddb.com

Doesn't seem to, I tried to put it in the commons file, that didn't work so I placed it in client.zip\Common\Sound\Levelambients which also doesn't work.
P.s sorry I didn't read the mousselook thing in the read.me, trying get that to work now too.
Ah Ah ! No, you just have to unzip the file and listen it with your favorite mp3 player: for the mouselook, the problem is that you lose the controle of the airplane, during use; but, if you have a 32 bit computer, you can try the Bf2Freelook software; very efficient !
Lol whoops, many thanks. I checked out the BF2 freelook but for some reason, it doesn't detect my bf2 (legit version) so I gave up on it. Using mouselook does make it a slight pain, but it's not too bad.
However, after playing the map for a variable number minutes, it CTDs for me. Sometimes I can finish a round or two with no crashes but sometimes it crashes after five or ten minutes, tried other maps too see whether it was general problem, but it wasn't.
Still a great mod, cause the map is so much more beautiful than red dawn.
