TLDR: This is my modification of More starting Options by Kiirbyy, to allow for more variety while maintaining difficulty, literally it, details below.
Installation
Straightforward gamedata folder, no fuss.
Does not require More Starting Options By Kiirbyy, it is standalone.
Requires B&S (Patch Dec-28-2021) if you wish to have all the weapons I added to loadouts.
What does this do
I've been looking for Starting loadout addons lately and two piqued my interest, More Starting Options By Kiirbyy and Starting Loadout Rebalanced by kemelvorkorp, however felt that the former was too limited while the latter too unbalanced but adds great ideas, so here's my take on it.
From MSO:
- More misc options to choose from like sleeping bags.
- Rounded the cost of all the misc items down in increments of 25.
From SLR:
- Only your PDA, wallet, patch and a bolt come free.
- Gear is the same throughout difficulties, only points change.
- Allows you to actually get a primary gun, with drawbacks.
Now you have to buy every part of your starting equipment, each costing points to get.
- The most basic suit + flashlight + knife + backpack combo costs 75 at the least.
- +50 points on each difficulty to buy those essentials.
In exchange you get:
- More shared items. new notable ones are very cheap armors (two, one has a backpack built-in), headlamp and a costly axe, which were previously locked for survivalist.
- Slight price reduction on some equipment to cope (same as MSO's but with some tweaks, such as cheaper bandages, stimpack and Geiger counter to make them viable),
- Wider weapon selection for factions, each includes 6 new options, which are generally distributed by their price (two costing 300, two costing 400, two costing 500), for a balanced loadout you are urged to NOT use them, but if are willing to take the point cost for RP or preference reasons you can.
- Slightly buffed starting cash so you can actually buy something.
- Faction-only items that make sense lore wise.
Overall I'd consider this addon a small nerf to points considering you now have to buy all your starter items (which is a deficit compared to the +50 extra points) , but a huge boost to options, specially RP ones.
- Loners: Balanced equipment, options allow for hunting (shotgun and axe for mutants), artifact hunting (bear detector and better gas masks) and regular stalking (balanced, but outdated guns).
- Bandits: Loner but firefight oriented with longer range weapons and armor to match it.
- Ecologists: Their weapon selection consists of submachineguns and shotguns (no rifles), but allows for a thick mutant knife, bear detector and hunting kit.
- Clear Sky: Similar to ecologists but their weapons consist of shotguns and rifles, considering they are a paramilitary organization
- Duty: AK centric weapons, their sks and ak74u are cheaper than other factions.
- Freedom: West centric weapons (submachines and rifles).
- Mercenaries: Varied west weapons, includes pistols.
- Army: All their weapons cost the same (as if you are just assigned one), AK centric.
- Monolith: All their weapons cost differently, scaling in points with strength, no shotguns.
- Renegade: Bandit with slight variations in weapons.
- Greh: Varied guns, similar to bandit but has a hunters kit.
- ISG: Only pistols and submachineguns (aside from their regular starting ak, which now has to be bought).
Cash
Made this because I wanted to roll a dice to decide what weapon I use in my permadeath runs, hope any of you find the addon useful or interesting.
Thanks for this, was just searching for it yesterday!
Should be EFP 3.0 compatible, I'll be trying it there.
Also btw, it's "piqued" not "peaked" :)
Yea, the only addon that might be an issue is B&S, in which case the guns simply don't appear and the rest is from vanilla.
why tourist have worse knife
Ingame it's the same knife gameplay wise, just retextured.
You might want to replace that original AK-47 with something like an AK-74 or AKS-74U, it's both exceedingly rare in real life and pretty overpowered to get at the very beginning of the game
but it's not able to put scopes on
Perfect addon for a casual gameplay.
Just gotta give us bandits, renegades and loners more primary weapon options to choose from.
Freedom's missing the "Wind of Freedom" suit from their starting options, leaving them with easily the worst starting armor choices.
Other than that? Definitely my favorite of the starting loadout mods. Good work.
