Sure you could. Just open ogfviewer, go to the meshes properties and and under skeleton motion_refs2 add actors\bandits_animation and the mesh will use these animations.
Which ogfviewer do you use to do this? id really like to know. I cant find one anywhere apart from the AXRtoolset and that seems basic and not able to change anything like that.
Now you input the path were the models reside in "Working directory", lower left of the window
Example: F:\Program Files\MO2\mods\pack\gamedata\meshes\actors\stalker_monolith
Now on the top left besides "Pattern matching", there is an empty checkbox left of it. Click it and select "All"
Now you right click any model on the list and input the "actors\bandits_animation" somewhere in the "skeleton motion_refs2"
Seperate them by comma.
good :)
Noice
Does this also apply to the "lite" version of HD Models?
Yes, it should also work with lite since lite only changes the textures, not the meshes.
I'll download lite version just for you to check myself :)
Nice! If I wanted to could I tweak it to apply to certain other factions as well?

ARXtoolset. Okay I'm gonna explain:
Open OGF Viewer. Then some window opens
Now you input the path were the models reside in "Working directory", lower left of the window
