Have you ever wondered, why can NPCs roast food on a stick around a campfire, and why can't YOU?
This modification makes life easier by giving players the ability to roast low tier mutant meat by a campfire, without any cooking kits.

Installation:
Copy the "gamedata" folder into the root directory of the game.
I recommend it to be used together with my Arszi's Rotten Meat addon for more immersion!

Usage:
Go close to a lit campfire until the range of "press F" appears. In the inventory, you should right click on suitable meat, and a "roast" option will appear. You have to be both close and turned towards the campfire for the menu to appear. You can not roast meat or save in campfire saving mode in case of unlit campfire, ongoing psy storm/surge and if enemies are in the nearby.
Immersive campfire saving module will be active if you play campfire save mode only!
New game is NOT required! It does not change anything, which requires a new game.
Balance considerations:
-Only low tier mutant's meat can be roasted by a campfire: Flesh, Boar, Tushkano, Dog, Snork.
-Only the "Zone produced" version of the dishes can be produced.
-High tier and boiled version of mutant meat requires cooking kits still.
-Roasting meat is taking time.
+20 minutes for each Boar meat
+15 minutes for each Flesh meat
+10 minutes for each Tushkano, Snork and Dog meat

Well, the multi-fuel stove has it's value definitely, if you have higher tier meat, water and fuel, but it felt definitely a bit silly, that in the end, the price to cook self-made meal was approximately the same, as imported food, not to talk about the radiation...

Got an issue,
After one use i cannot interact with any campfire anymore.
Also In my first use.
I Succesfully cook dog meat.
So this give me two Dog Meat zone produced but didn't remove the old one from my backpack.
Hm, this is new.
Will the campfire work again, if you quicksave/quickload?
Save before you cook, then quickload and cook. Will you still have the dog meat?
Are you using the normal, or the Immersive Campfire Saving one?
I checked the code, but do not see, how could this happen. If you could give me more information, I might track it down.
Thanks for efforts, I would like this to work, but does not seem to. After mod install (no file conflicts with other few mods) all campfires everywhere even abandoned areas are burning and I cannot interact with them (F or my interaction keybind). Also, during newbie training with Fanatic game crashed and error message referred to a campfire script.
Removing 'roast mod' made abandoned campfires unlit again.
Could you please copy/paste me a crash report? Also send a screenshot about the lit campfires.
Someone else reported interesting things too, but did not reply in the end. On my side nothing like these happened. So if you could attach the necessery resources, I would be grateful!

EDIT: reinstall and I can roast meat, hurray! It's a really nice feature. But about 30 secs later CTD, and log file was empty in F:\STALKER-Anomaly\appdata\logs :(
Restarted and so far seems to be stable, but haven't roasted any more meat... will report back S!

Which modifications do you use? It might conflict with something.
I think the CTD after reinstall was just random, it hasn't happened again in over 3 to 4 hours and have roasted several mutants. KoW all seems well...
I install mods by 'hand' so I knew none of 'roast' files were directly conflicting with other mods.
Now to figure out how to deal with all those rads from the carnivore diet!

It really is a very natural thing to be able to do, cut a chunk off an animal, put it on a stick and blacken it over a fire, since the beginning of time... Such low tech makes us commune with our ancestors, not these bloody camp stoves etc... LOL Thanks again for the very fine mod.
EDIT: FYI, just noticed you cannot roast pseudo dog steak...
Pesudodog steak is high tier meat. It requires higher temperature to be roasted/cooked properly.
For balance and "lore compatibility" reasons, you can roast low tier mutant meats only in this mod.

It will collapse the window.
I wanted to have a nice background back then, but I am no 2D artist, and wasn't able to make a texture file wich worked...
in case of that I will try reducing width and height, of the window in order to make all buttons sits perfectly in the middle
You have to keep playing with the X,Y starting points and witdths and heights. Creating UI is not so much fun...
Do you see any chance of integrating the immersive saving for the campfires?
Immersive saving? Do you mean the immersive campfire saving? This addon contains a compatibility patch for that one already.
Yeah, I see that but it seems to have broken with the last Anomaly update. The ui_main_menu.script file causes a CTD in the settings menu. But then again, this doesn't seem like a 'you' problem and seems more like a 'them' problem. That mod just goes so well w/ yours. It's a shame.

No problem! Just again, the ui_main_menu.script file is only present in HIS mod and not yours so its def a him issue but it seems they abandoned the mod. Anywho, have a good rest of your week!

Great mod and all, hated not being able to cook something on a campfire, and the cooking itself works but what doesn't work is the igniting and extinguishing the fire, that seems to have stopped working for some reason.
Feel like I'm gonna have to remove the mod until it's fixed, or just stick to not touching campfires, either way if you can help me I'd appreciate it because I really want this mod to work properly.
Did you try it with the RC version?
This version can get messed up because scripted timers can become broken in STALKER. I will release a new, better version of this addon once Anomaly 1.5 is out. Until that I ask for your patience guys.
I've tried it on RC21 and it works really well except igniting campfires option. I think it would be easy to fix since the rest of the mod is working properly. Im great fan of this addon and I'd love to see it working back again !
It's a small mod, but it played a very big role in immersing me in the game.

I removed the window menu, it served well, but I have laid it to rest. You can access campfire roasting from item contect menus now!

Glad to hear it :) Well, in the base game cooking meat is overly expensive. This addon makes it too cheap. When I finish update the Radiation Overhaul finally, cooking meat will be different :D

Hi I found a bug - When u quicksave by a campfire, the screen fades out like u cooked something even tho I did not cook.
That one is the Immersive Campfire Saving addon integrated. It made sense to update and integrate it since it is one of my favourite addons :)
Immersive campfire saving and cooking should be part of base game imo, awesome mod

It hooks up the context menu option "roast".
What about the text/Eng/roasting file?
That one contains the localized english texts towards the identifiers in the code point.
Any idea why its not working for me?I am near fire and F appears,have every mutant meat possible in inventory and I click all of them and no roast appears in drop down.
Are you looking towards the fireplac? You have to look at the fireplace exactly.
