I manage to animate the shell ejecting little doors also I reworked the textures to improve the originals that were a bit low quality.
Here's a video showing the gun now ejecting shells properly:
I guess I can say this replacement is complete now, hopefully.
wow, this looks cool. but I just realized that it's never worked in d3 alpha
Great work on details :)
Great work, but I can't stand how comically awful the shotgun is in Doom 3 from a range of more than 2 metres.
You can open the file pak000.pk4 (located in 'Doom 3/base' folder) with winrar or a similar program, and take the weapon_shotgun.def file from the folder 'def'.
Then you can open it with a text editor and search the line "spread", default value is 22, I would change it to 10 or 8.
After that you can put it in the pk4 again or create a new folder named Def in the Base folder and put the modified weapon_shotgun.def file inside.
That's great, thanks.
But it appears that if you set the value too low,
it defaults back to “22”.
I tried “4” and it was just like the default,
even though “8” was much tighter.
Weird, I just set it to 1 for fun and the shotgun was a sniper.
I also lowered the damage a bit, less spread makes the shotgun too powerful to my taste.
I really have no idea.
I'm using it on Redux right now.
If I go in and view the file with Notepad while it's still in the .pk4 now, it says right there that it's at “1”.
I even tried starting a new game, to see if that was the problem,
but no, it's definitely more-or-less back at “22”.
I see, Redux uses it's own .def files, so I assume you are tweaking those.
Hahahah,
no. I did not know that XD
I thought it would have to be called pak000.pk4, so I didn't think Redux used it since *that* name wasn't there.
I look like an idiot now but I don't even care XD
This game is so much more fun for me with the spread at “8”.
Thanks for sticking with me and helping me out man, appreciate it :)
I'm glad that you managed to solve it.
Don't worry, you're not an idiot for that, how would you know that Redux already had a def file that conflict with yours?
If you knew the hours I waste some times struggling with an issue for overlooks worse than that...
Nice work on the alpha shotgun!
