Dear Community,

This will be the very first newspost for the mod Operation: Red Tide. No screenshots are given in a news post. (That's for the media updates.) This mini-segment is designed specifically for keeping you, the loyal followers of Operation: Red Tide updated so you don't think the mod is dead. So let's get down to business.

Weapons

Weapons are proceeding at a fairly decent rate. So far, two weapons (SCAR-H and M96) have been successfully imported, though quite a few bugs need ironed out from using the same animations for both guns, which was expected.

Features

Not much has been going on in the features department, but the capture system is first priority right now. It has been roughly sketched out in the flowgraph editor, but it's extremely buggy at present. Also, I would like to mention the addition of Rad15's advanced AI, which should deliver a bit more than the original AI did in the challenge department.

Beta Level

The overall gameplay of the private beta level is finished. Some bugs have managed to creep up, some flowgraph work is needed, and some weapons need reworked, but everything's pretty much done. This brings us to the reason for the beta delay. Thanks to Slaughter, I've been able to gain valuable information on Crysis weapon rigging. Therefore, instead of giving you the same boring weapons from the default campaign, I'm giving you modified weapons from the mod. Hopefully it won't be delayed by much, since I only intend to include a few weapons from each side (that will give you 6 different weapons to work with.) If you have experience in animation, you're welcome to help me out in order to streamline this process. Credit will be given where due.

Media Release #1

There are some things that need worked out before I release Media Release #1. Included will be screenshots of the level & imported weapons, updates on additional works in progress, and possibly a video that will show you the capture system in action. It should be released some time within the next two weeks.

That's all I've got for you today. Keep watching for new official updates.
