We've prepared a look into some of the new enhancements we've been making to the terrain engine. As you may have gathered from the title, foliage, fluids and physics are all in various stages of development (along with a lot of other things!). We hope you're as pleased with the current progress as we are!
Rich, dense foliage will make your realms feel even more alive. There's just something nice about roaming through lush grass and other plant life as you adventure and explore isn't there? Don't spend too much time relaxing by a calm lake or placid river as... did we say lakes and rivers? Real time fluids have been in development and will bring tons of new possibilities to your realms. Whether they create an obstacle to overcome in your adventures, a barrier around your kingdom or a life line for your farm or village water will add a new dimension in an upcoming patch.
Finally you may recall our work on "hair physics" as part of the character customization implementation. We're continuing to experiment with physics-based effects and think that making trees tumble to the ground is another good use. We won't be stopping there but we think the results look quite good so far.
