Post news Report article RSS Feed Realm Explorer - 0.14.0A Released

We've released our latest patch, the one many of you have been waiting for... Single Player!

Posted by realmsource on Jan 4th, 2013

  • Single player mode has been added to the game. Please note that Single player requires .NET 4.5 to be installed on your computer.
  • Items can now make noise when being used as well as looping noises where appropriate (for example, the constant flame noise of a torch).
  • Fixed an issue where typing /time was incorrectly formatting the realm date/time.
  • Packaged new "Basic Server" with Client. Basic Server is a stripped down version of the game server that is used for Singleplayer and will is planned to provide cross-platform dedicated server hosting in the future (Linux, Mac, etc.).
  • Improved handling of disconnecting from servers when closing the client via the windows X button (as opposed to using the in-game menus).
  • Numerous bug fixes.

  • Improved terrain data transmission reliability.
  • Minor modification to terrain generation. Terrain will look somewhat different from the previous terrain algorithm. A much more drastic change in terrain will become available in the upcoming "Biome Patch".
  • Numerous bug fixes.

Hi belva1234, Realm Explorer already has multiplayer. Until the past week it has been multiplayer only. We just now added Single Player. :)

You can now play both local Singleplayer and internet multiplayer with LAN support coming in the future.

Hello. I just stumbled across this yesterday and decided to try the single-player, but despite having installed (and reinstalled, twice I think) both the client and .NET 4.5, it hasn't been able to get as far as creating the realm without giving me a message each time: "realmexplorer.server.basicserver has stopped working." The same thing happens if I just try running that program on its own. Just wondering if anyone else may have run into/solved this issue. Thanks!

Oh, fixed it. Just went into Realm Explorer/Server and ran RealmExplorer.Server.BasicServer as an administrator.

I had the same problem, ran it(RealmExplorer.Server.BasicServer) as administrator and it still did not work. I can still join Multiplayer, just can't so Single Player...

Weird. I ran it as admin, then (maybe?) closed the game. After (maybe?) running the game again, I created a realm and I got a firewall message to approve the basicserver application, approved it, and that seemed to do it.

Try just running the main Realm Explorer game "as administrator". You shouldn't need to launch BasicServer manually at all (this is handled in the background for you).

I will also mention, as I've said before, that we are working on further improving this process in the near future (so you can just click and play). Sorry for any problems anyone is having. We should have this working better soon.
