Report article RSS Feed Project Listed in Magazine!

Hey guys, just a small update. Recently a friend of mine has pointed out that we've been listed in an issue of the French magazine called Joystick. Now I know this might not mean much for you guys, but for me it means a lot and shows that the project has a lot more fans than I expected. This will also get a lot more followers as it has the website link on the page as well.

A new update will be out shortly that showcases the coloured version of the Ziggurat concept plus the final and coloured verson of the Haunted Boneyard. Stay tuned.

"With Starcraft II still unreleased, Warcraft IV has a risk of being undeveloped for a long time. Because of this, a few Modders have created their own version. Warcraft IV - The Edge of Eternity should allow you to live through the follow up of Warcraft III's popular expansion, The Frozen Throne. It's a little something we can all enjoy while we wait for the real deal."

Hey thought i'd drop by... seeing as you have given us lovely feedback =) Thanks!

Looking amazing, love the concept art (ftw)! I assume your sticking with the Wc3 engine then (May 30 2010 6:54am post)?

Will you be able to meet your july release date, or is that looking rather unhopeful now? :/

P.S That's great news, the jump from digital to physical advertisement is one all modders aspire to make :p

Hey Grey Nightmare, thanks for dropping by :D

Yes we are staying with the Warcraft 3 engine, for a few reasons. Yes Starcraft 2 does have a lot of advantages (better graphics, easier to code, flexible, and better unit pathing) however, I have found some MAJOR disadvantages. In the ToS of Battle.net 2.0, apparently ANY map or modification you make on there automatically belongs to Blizzard. So if for any moment Blizzard feels they don't like my modification or would like to make money off of it (through the map marketplace they are introducing), that means they can instantly take it off me, send an email, and start selling it without me taking any of the credit or the profit. Now while I doubt Blizzard would do this, they can, and I'm not taking my chances. With Warcraft 3 the most they can do is a cease and decease order but I really doubt they will do that because the engine is older and will only increase Warcraft 3's popularity.

Also, with Warcraft 3 I can make a lot of cool features that are not possible with Starcraft 2 because of the Battle.net 2.0 platform. Here are a few things:

- Pre-Launcher Client with in-built site browser and chat system (starts up before the game even launches)
- Local Area Network play (LAN is not available in Starcraft 2)
- Chat Channels. Blizzard currently has no plans to add Chat Channels into Starcraft 2 for both the original and its expansions. I think Chat Channels are great for bringing the community together, so without it the online experience will feel empty.
- Our own private server (currently, it is impossible to do this with Starcraft 2)
- Fully customized main menu.

I think with these extra features the users of the modification will have a much better experience.

Yes a July release is very possible, last week we just finished all of the Scourge concepts and music tracks, and most of the models. All of the triggering has already been completed for a few months now. The first beta release will only feature the Scourge, however, the Convent of the Blackened will be added in one of the patches.

Great, I will definitely play it. Your points are true and valid, Blizzard were really smoking something when they cooked up the new and 'intuitive' CrapNet 2.0.

I like it this way though, were both heading for different goals and can support each other rather than compete, I'll drop by again soon ;)

Great that you make in into a magazine. It can be a huge pain to get listed into oen and I can speak for myself as I tried a lot to get Freelancer mods into gaming magazines. After several tries and months I finally succeeded =)
