Post news Report RSS Preparing to make another patch

It's been a while since I've touched this mod but I have not forgot what I said about making another patch. This patch will bring the mod up to version 5.

Posted by on

So far I have a list of things I will attempt to do in this patch. I'm not the greatest Blood 2 modder so that's why I said attempt.

Make a lie flat model for the Combat Shotgun weapon pickup.
Make a lie flat model for the Flayer weapon pickup.
Give all of the characters a Beretta along with their character specific weapon.
Give Ophelia a Voodoo Doll for her character specific weapon.
Make Zealots and Drudge Priests drop a Flayer weapon pickup.
Make another enemy drop a Death Ray pickup.
Double the Vulcan Cannon's bullet damage.
Make Life Leech projectiles burn enemies to death.
Make the Bone Leech smaller when its attached to your face.
Make the Drudge Lord shoot fireballs less frequently.
Make the Drudge Lord's fireballs slower when flying.
Try to make the Behemoth's hit box smaller so that he can move through tight areas that he should be able to get through but cannot.
Try to make it possible to collect ammo from guns you don't have equipped for equipped guns that share the same ammo.
Try to make burning bodies burn for a longer period of time.

If anybody has anything else that could be added to this patch please let me know and I'll add it to the list if it's something I like.

The drudge lord is Overpowered given the number of instances player has to dodge/combat his fireball spamming ways. Slow down his projectile speed and rate of fire. No other enemy gets the number of complaints he does. Shrink the size and/or offset the boneleech's attached animation so he doesn't completely block player's view (reduce screen size by half).

Good ideas for Blood 2. I'll add them to the list.

"Double the Vulcan Cannon's bullet damage."
I'm not sure if this is a wise move - the weapon is pretty powerful already.
Also, I think that the best choice for specific weapon is the one found later in the game, but the one with plenty of ammo available since the beginning. So recommended choice would be bullet, shell, flare, gas weapons. How about:
Caleb - Combat shotgun/Shotguns
Ophelia - Flayer
Gabriella - Vulcan
Ishmael - Orb

The Vulcan is still very weak. It should kill low level baddies with 1 or 2 maybe 3 well placed chest shots. It takes like 6 or 7. So doubling its damage rate isn't too much. Its just enough.

I've been rethinking Ophelia's character specific weapon for the very reason you just mentioned. They must all start with a Beretta because the opening cinematic shows them with a Beretta. So for her special weapon I'm gonna give her a voodoo doll. That way all of the characters have a special weapon that has plenty of ammo to pickup from the get go.

I always thought that minigun weapons (in any game) should be as weak per bullet as pistol, but insane rate of fire (and accuracy if gun's barrel/s is/are long) should compensate. The reason is, if weapon would be powerful with both fire rate and per bullet damage it would be possible to mow down everyone with a single weapon, without tactic of any kind. This could be balance-breaking especially in a game such as Blood 2 where ammo limit is 500 and there is plenty of it.

As for the voodoo - great choice. I recommended Flayer only for the fact that this is sooo rare weapon, but since you'll make enemies drop it it doesn't matter anymore.

Where it balances out is where the Vulcan uses too much ammo for low level baddies. U don't want to use that beast for those insects. So u use something lighter.

I was thinking about the chosen weapons seen in cinematics. As far as I remember only Caleb is seen with his beretta and the chosen in the end: Ishmael has orb, Caleb has no weapon equipped, all other have berettas. I'm not entirely convinced tho the idea of 3 startup weapons per class (counting knife). How about a knife plus a single weapon per class (since a pistol can be grabbed from the first enemies anyway)? So the loadout would be knife plus:
Caleb - Pistol (the weakest startup weapon, but matching the intro)
Ophelia - Tesla
Gabriella - Vulcan
Ishmael - Orb

Also, how about moving the knife to some other place (inventory?) and free up the slot 1 for other weapons?
Improved particles would also be nice, especially if some from the Battle of Chosen, would be used.

Ps. Is it possible to have custom player class in SP just like in MP?

I think the start weapons are good the way they are. Plus the Tesla doesn't have a lot of ammo available in the beginning. Good points though. You know your stuff.

I think the knife should stay in slot 1. It makes sense. Would be nice to add it to some kind of quick draw command. That way it stays in its own permanent slot outside of the inventory. Not sure how to do that. Now I'm curious.

I'll look into new particles.

not sure about separate classes in sp. Is it really needed.

"Is it really needed."

Not "needed" per se, but adds to replayability, which I consider important for such an old game, with almost no mission packs/expansions.

I'll look into it. But I'm not the best at messing around with this source. I wish there was a lot more tuts available.

-Ability to switch between dual/single weapons with another slot press.
-Enemies burn particles replaced with the effect of zealot's attack.

Not sure how to add that switching between dual and single weapons. Would be so great.
