A new custom character has been created for the game and is currently having clothes and other items made for them.

NO RETURN NEW PLAYER CHARACTER
The old character seen in (now removed) screenshots and videos is no longer featured and has been replaced with a custom character fully rigged for dismemberment. If you look very closely you will be able to see seams around the neck, this is where your head will get chopped off if you are unlucky enough to either get shot in the head or attacked by a wild animal. Arms, Legs and Head are all fitted with whats called bone break to make this possible.
The New character comes ready for different heads, arms, legs and clothes so in a few months I hope to have a complete set of items available to allow the player to customize the look of their character. A female character will be developed once the male character is up to speed.
Clothes the player can find will range from standard civilian clothes to military and woodsman gear. Clothes will be basic to begin with and wont look too special but in time I'd hope to add a lot of features such as simulated fur and cloth, but for the time being it will be very simple.
Because the player is also trying their best not to be caught by mercenary soldiers some camouflaged gear will also be available. I'm also looking at bush and grass camouflage as that is what would most likely be used in a survival situation if camouflaged clothes were not available. How this will look in game with a player wandering around with a bush on their head I don't know but at the end of the day its all about how long you can survive so how you look is academic really.
Items that will appear on the player character will be key weapons like pistols, rifles, and knifes. If the player is lucky enough to have any of these then they will appear on the character in set locations. If anyone has any ideas on how the player should look, what features they would like to see or any images of how they want the player to look please feel free to add comments in the forum and provide links to characters you may like in other games, these will be used for reference. Feel free to add references for both sexes.
Future development if the game proves popular will include morphing, this is a technique which can slowly transition the model from fat to slim and a host of other changes over time. For example the male character will slowly grow a beard and in time it will become a marker as to how long the player has survived, the longer the player beard the longer they have survived. A cheat will be used to get this effect for the time being before full morphing is enabled. So expect your character to go through some obvious changes as time passes.
How will you be able to tell friend from foe? you wont, you never can tell but in game if someone has killed a bear then you can expect to see them wearing the fur, this will be an indicator of how skilled the player is and how you should treat them. Someone wandering around in winter with next to no clothes and looking very skinny shouldn't be much of a threat to a player who has full winter clothing and a firearm, but keep in mind traps will be available and so even a novice might be able to kill a skilled player with a tree spring trap or ditch with spikes.
Going by the popularity of videos on YouTube featuring 'Fail compilations' I'll be doing my best to make deaths and accidental suicides as entertaining as possible, it all seems a bit sick but to get the most out of the dismemberment feature some of the traps will be brutal to say the very least. Again if you have any suggestions for traps please let me know in the forum.

Iron sight and a basic melee spear weapons are now working and will form the basis of the other weapons. Firing Range V1.1 will be available as soon as these have been sorted out. Both of these are working in multiplayer to a basic degree which is great news.
Progress is steady in all areas of the game and I have now completed the full 350 sq-km map to a basic level. Generating the grass is going to take a little while as a new approach is being looked into which will allow for more of it. Once the system is working you should see a dramatic improvement in this area.
Birds and fish will now be propagated around the map and there migration routes added, they will be one of the very first key animals you will be able to hunt. Fish are very hard to catch and you will need to use traps which are being created. That's not to say you cant try fishing with a spear or bow but from my experience you will need several dozen arrows to kill one fish. Then again I might just be a bad aim.
Membership options are in a state of limbo at the moment as the game has progressed more rapidly that I could have foreseen. This does not mean that testers will not be needed but some tester builds will be joined far sooner than originally planned. if you are interested in testing go to the forum or official site and get your name down.
Even if testing is limited to the demo map all feedback will be welcome. At this moment all attention is on getting the first weapons ready for the firing range so you can start to practice your hunting skills.
Cannibalism isn't a very pleasant topic but throughout history people have taken that step in order to survive in horrific circumstances and so it will be available I hope, it is then up to the player if they wish to take this route. again if you have ideas in this area let me know.
