Welcome back to our continuing in-depth look at Loose Toast's upcoming arcade-action space-shooter, Decimation! Time to spotlight another armament of the player's ship: missiles, everyone's favorite fire-and-forget, target-locking deliverers of mass destruction!

While there is a certain satisfaction to hunting down, engaging, and destroying an enemy fighter using your ship's laser cannons, sometimes we need a Plan B. That's where your missiles come in. It is epic to unleash a barrage of explosive mayhem upon the swarms of enemies making your primary mission (eliminating the enemy fleet) challenging.

When fired, missiles automatically lock-on to the nearest hostile craft, not differentiating between enemy spacecraft classes, like the harvesters and fighters. This can be quite useful when trying to destroy a fleeing harvester to nab it's precious crystal load while being chased be a swarm of fighters.

Your fighter comes equipped with a default 10 missile capacity, but fortunately, the on-board nanobots are programmed to build all kinds of enhancements, upgrades and improvements to your fighter, including additional missile storage. But more on your nano-bots later. Once you've fired all the missiles your ship currently carries, more can be acquired by locating and picking up special missile packs floating around that originate from the destroyed battle stations. Your ship's Tactical Map highlights floating battle station debris with a yellow dot, allowing for swifter location of these valuable scraps.

In addition to being a quick and easy way to dispatch pesky fighters, missiles also target the turrets on the large armada ships. However, your missiles cannot alone penetrate the powerful shields of the capital ships, so you must first knock out the shields of a ship using your Sonic Bombs. Once down, the turrets are vulnerabl and can be targeted. Firing several barrages of missiles close to a capital ship will likely destroy a number of turrets, making it easier to engage the ship without being obliterated.

I hope you'll check back regularly as we continue to write about the various features and enemies of our upcoming game: Decimation!
