Hello everyone!

First of all, a Happy New Year to all. We have had a number of new members join the discord recently, and want to extend a welcome to them as we move closer towards the release of the mod later this month. While we do this, we just wanted to share with you some news of previously unseen assets we have been working on, that you will be able to play with.

Heavy guns

Alongside the Bofors, the 4th Anti-Aircraft brigade at Tobruk had a complement of 4 Heavy Anti-Aircraft Batteries, using the QF 3.7-inch (94mm) AA gun. While not explicitly designed for ground targets in the same way the German 8.8cm Flak was, it did see use as an improvised anti-tank weapon and indirect fire artillery piece throughout the North African campaign, and in Italy and North West Europe.

Armoured Cars are Back!

Since we last showed it to you, our Marmon-Herrington has also had a face lift, and has been improved in line with the PS Armour Overhaul. The captured Breda gun has been completely remodelled, and the whole vehicle has new textures.

The 223 special purpose radio car is a new addition to the mod, that will act as a radio command vehicle for the German Platoon Commander. This should add some needed manoeuvrability and added protection for him to support troops in the field.

With the latest update to Post Scriptum, we also got our hands on the SdkFz. 222 and SdkFz. 232, that have been absent from the game for a while. We are happy to say that they will be included in Shifting Sands on release as well in appropriate Afrika Korps camouflage.

Say hello to your battlefield sweetheart “Dieta”.

Post release?

We also want to re-affirm that we will continue to work on bringing the Italians into the game, and we will keep you updated as work progresses on the 2nd map and introducing this faction into the game.

The Beretta Modello 38A was one of the very best submachine guns of WWII, being highly praised by Axis soldiers who used them, and Allied soldiers who captured them. It was used by Romanian and Italian troops on the Eastern Front as well as North Africa and Italy. The M38A has typical features of a 1st generation submachine gun, with a high level of refinement on its parts. The gun had 2 triggers, one for full-auto and one for semi-auto. It remained in production throughout the war, despite simplified versions also being made. This included production under German occupation from 1943 onwards.

The team has already reached out to a number of Post Scriptum community server hosts to assist them in any way we can. We will keep you updated as best we can in the coming weeks.

Many thanks,

Shifting Sands Team.
