Welcome to Command & Conquer Generals Zero:Hour Unleashed, or Zero Hour: Unleashed (ZHU) for short. ZHU is a partial conversion mod of Zero Hour, staying within the basic premise of the original game but tremendously modifying and improving it.

Report RSS ZHU June Mini Cameo Update I

Unveils the cameos and natures of General Fai's basic infantry line-up.

Greetings Zero Hour: Unleashed fans! It's been quiet for a while, but that doesn't mean work has stopped. And indeed, I have another Mini Cameo Update for you today biggrin.gif

First, we have General Fai's Elite Guard Infantry. Armed with modern assault rifles instead of the old stock of bolt-action rifles that were pulled from reserves and given to draftees in the rest of the army, Elite Guards are quite plainly more powerful than the good ol' Red Guards you all know and love (to BBQ, at least tounge.gif). This unit will replace his irrational, arbitrary, ridiculous and OP Minigunner as basic infantry. Of course, it can't shoot at aircraft, nor does it need to spin up to cause maximum damage.

Second, the Tank Killer, also for General Fai. As the name suggests, it is a replacement for the Tank Hunter, but it is more powerful. Indeed, this unit is easily the strongest basic anti-tank infantry in the Chinese arsenal, if not in the entire mod! However, this increased power comes at a cost. It is slightly more expensive than the regular Tank Hunter, and while its missile is more powerful, it also has a lower RoF. Moreover, they are incapable of attacking aircraft. Still, their DPS against vehicles is a fair sight better than that of its basic counterpart, and since it is of course still capable of firing from fireported vehicles and garrisoned structures, it is a right menace to tanks.

Lastly, the Air Guard. This unit is unique, in that it is a non-vanilla-side unit used by multiple Generals. In its case, both General Fai and General Tao can build this very same unit. Since both Fai and Tao lack regular anti-air-capable soldiers, they receive specialists instead. The Air Guard is an infantryman armed with an anti-air missile launcher, to protect your ground forces and garrisons from enemy air attack. They are technically capable of attacking ground targets, but the missiles will barely do anything - this is mainly so that they move with your forces when you give them attack orders, so they're not leaning back smoking a relaxed cigarette while a screen and a half away the rest of your force gets bombed into Narnia. To compensate for this specialisation, however, they are more powerful than regular missile troops against aircraft.

Of course, as with (almost) all infantry in Zero Hour: Unleashed, all these weapons actually exist. The Elite Guard is armed with a QBZ95 assault rifle, the Tank Killer with a PF98 120mm anti-tank missile launcher and the Air Guard with an FN-6 man-portable anti-air missile launcher.

All cameos were done by SharpShark.

That's all for today, see you next time. smile.gif
