Winter Warfare is a modification set during a fictional version of World War 2 were a new Ice Age has begun. The Battle of Britian fails and Operation Sealion is a sucsess, the Soviets are defeated at Stalingrad and Kursk, D-Day fails, Italy never surrendered and Japan invaded Hawaii. This mod tells the story after the main Allied Powers have fallen such as the United States, Britian and the Soviets, instead it focuses on the remaining allies as they fight in brutal winter weather aganist a huge Axis force.
To the Japanese, tanks were not as important as aerial warfare and were thought more as support for the infantry against tough emplacements. Fighting across small islands where there was not much room to move did not improve the situation. But with the more common appearances of the M4A3E8, there was a call for more of an effort. No heavy tank was designed, or purchased, however, for the Japanese troops needed to keep mobile and did not need to be bogged down by a heavy tank struggling through the mud of the tropics.
The Type 5 Ke-Ho was, at the time of the invasion of the United States, only just put into service, but has since become a necessity. Although lightly armoured, even for a light tank, it is fast and can carry a gun that is able to pierce an M4A3E8's hull from the front if it is within a certain range. Commonly seen in both the Americas and the Pacific, it has become a sight to both admire and fear.
