Uplink OS is a total graphical modification to 2001's indie cult hit Uplink: Trust is a Weakness by Introversion Software. It aims to bring a fresh look to the game's cyberpunk visuals and a much needed upgrade to its interface and usability.

Here is a few ideas:

Minimum/Lock CPU button. This would be next to the bar of an app's current CPU usage and it would lock the CPU usage of an app at a certain percentage or prevent it from failing under its minimum CPU percentage.

At the moment there are issues on controlling app CPU usage especially when using many apps and several are at low percentages. Often giving an app enough CPU will take it from all the others causing them to fall under the percentage and will take alot of fiddling around to get all the apps you need working. You also have to be constantly looking to make sure that apps are working as intended so this button would alleviate the need to be worrying about your apps. It could be integrated into the game as a feature or as an upgrade purchased from the Uplink Internal Server (for example: CPU manager).

Balance CPU button. This would set all apps equal CPU usage.

Reasons are the same as above. Again it could be integrated into the game as a feature or as an upgrade purchase.

If both Minimum or Lock CPU and Balance CPU buttons were added the Minimum or Lock CPU should not be overwritten by balancing. For example for clarity, lets say I have the trace tracer, password breaker and proxy disable active at the same time. I need 41% CPU for the trace tracker to run so I either lock/minimum CPU button it. Then if I balance the apps it show go to trace tracer 41%, password breaker 30% and proxy disable 30% and not trace tracer 33%, password breaker 33% and proxy disable 33%.

Second Click on Text Bar shifts the Caret.

This would make it easier to edit typing mistakes when, for example, we are entering names into a search bar of the Academic Records database.

Re-add LAN Force versions. It doesn't have sense that other LAN apps have 3 levels and LAN Force doesn't.

It would make the game more balanced if LAN Force v1 could break through level 1 locks, LAN Force v2 could break through level 1 and 2 lock and LAN Force v3 can break all locks.

Apps turn red when CPU is too low. This way it is more noticeable when an app is failing if you don't have your CPU menu open.

Thanks for reading :)

Hey Dude579! Sorry for not responding earlier, I usually don't respond to suggestions until after I'm sure that I can actually do them XD

So, the App control features have been requested by other users too so it was the most important. I did however like that you gave me the idea about an upgradeable Task Manager, which I've put in the latest version! (v103) Hope everything is much more manageable now!

About the LAN_Force apps. I previously removed the versions because they didn't do anything, but after looking through the games' source, I noticed that Introversion actually wanted to do leveled locks, but I have no clue why they dropped it. So, I brought them back along with the leveled locks!

Better text input support: this one was a long time coming, but never got around to actually do them. I've added some new features in the latest version (along with the click to move caret on single-line textfields): CTRL+BACKSPACE/DELETE now deletes whole words; CTRL+ARROWLEFT/RIGHT moves the caret a whole word;

Also, the apps turning their graphics red is a great way to have some more feedback for the player and it was pretty easy to add. Not all apps have them, though, since some can work ok even with low CPU (IP_LookUp)

Cheers and thank you very much for everything!
