Description
To know monster type, you need to make a DC 10 Knowledge check. To know their exact hp, you need to make a DC 10 Heal check. Checks are made when first spotting a monster, just like the Knowledge check to know templates.
All this is to increase the suspension of disbelief and to reduce the feeling of "numbers, numbers, more numbers".
