The CDF (Colonial Defense Force)
'The Virus'

The CDF are the only Official Earth based military space force - which is led by the UK government. They employ a number of different craft to complete various tasks, which range from mining operations to dealing with insurgents in their own vessels. Although the CDF is the only official space force, there are smaller groups, not bounded by the proverbial red tape of governments and official establishments. The bulk of these unregistered forces are Pro-American loyalists who do not wish to bow down the UK. Although the US governments does not officially endorse or fund these groups, the UK Hierarchy believes the US directly funds and assists the people they label terrorists. But with no proof of this assertion, the US cannot be directly linked to the loyalists.

The enemy only called ''The Virus' by the CDF is the only sizable force that has ever threatened them. The name is not official, and is only there because their real name is simply unknown. 'The Virus' was determined by how the enemy somehow controls friendly soldiers to doing their bidding, like building ships and waging war. Because of this, when the CDF meet Virus ships in battle, it is common to see friendly ships attacking. This cannot only be confusing, but also demoralizing to CDF forces for having to destroy their own ships, equipment and soldiers. As of now, the CDF does not know if the Virus infests human hosts, or they are somehow all linked to a hive mind that controls all of their actions.
