After waking up on Iris island, the only thing Chell remembers about why she's there is that she signed up to help with scientific research for the IRIS initiative, a classified research project by the Aperture Foundation For Science. She quickly realizes that the staff of the island have disappeared, and she is on her own, aided by the Tesla Device.

Modular update system and retcons

Later today, I will be upgrading the mod to a modular update system that not only makes future patches and updates easier for me, but makes it easier for you to install the new updates and patches as they come. Included in the update are some visual changes to the environment that help to convey the setting a little better than the previous design; which lead players to incorrectly assume that the facility was in decay or ruin, whereas i was going for a facility that is fully functional, but exposed to the elements a little bit more. Here are some pics:

As you can see, there are now a couple of clearly defined types of areas, outdoor and indoor. Outdoor areas are rusty, slightly damaged, and occasionally show different degrees of flood damage. Indoors, however, the facility is completely protected, so everything is nice, clean, and functional. To download the new update, click here:

EDIT: Also, it is important as i release stuff that you install everything in the order it was released, because your computer will need to overwrite old files sometimes! whenever i release something, i'll be sure to write which number it is in the sequence so you can know for sure.

While the mapping is extremely detailed and well designed there are a few bugs that make this map unplayable for those who don't know how to use the source console. First off, the 2nd door of the map doesn't open. Next, the fade out at the end of the map only lasts for a few seconds, then the sound comes back and allows me to see again. Other than that, this was a great ( however short ) map. I can't wait to see more of your work in the future.

...the second door doesnt open? you mean the one across from where you wake up? LOL. thanks, but that's not a bug... you have to solve the puzzle in that room to open that door. :)
as for the ending fade out, this map isn't really meant to end there- it links up to another map which i didn't distribute cause it's not done yet. thank you for the bug reports and feedback!

Looks really interesting. But I do hope you've incorporated the idea of how chell got into that submarine in the first place. Maybe the escape scene from P2 was just a hallucination, something along those lines or something, that will help tie the back-stories of P2 and your mod together

It's set in an alternate universe. The events of Portal and Portal 2 probably never even happened. (Michigan's upper peninsula doesn't even exist in this universe, therefore neither does the Aperture Science Enrichment Centre.)
