The Fright Project is a HL2 Singleplayer Mod. It will be basing on SMOD:T. The tactical gameplay (weapon system, leaning around corners, bullet time...) will enhance the gameplay in a fantastic new way.

Post news Report RSS The fright project - First Screenshots!

The fright project (or TFP) will be an HL2 singleplayer addon for SMOD:T. It will use the tactical gamplay elemtents and graphical enhencements of SMOD:T and combine it with levels that have some great ambience.

Now that the team is working on the fright project (or TFP) for over half and a year now,
we think that its time to show you some progress.

First, we like to link to the following Website, which is owned by one of our Playtesters
who was so kind to host our Screenshots and stuff:
Pinatz.spacequadrat.de
I know the Website has the german ".de" at the end, but it can be switched
to english easily!
(Every progress of the mod will also appear here on ModDB, of course ;) )

You may watched the technics trailer of our PSBT (Physical Static Building Technology)
in the past (if not have a look on the media section), but you were not able to see
any kind of mapping yet.

Heres what we have for you: 3 Screenshots of the prologue scene of TFP.
The prologue will be an ingame level with camera movement which will tell
the players the previous happenings before the events of the main TFP
storyline.

Every Screenshot is taken from ingame graphics and is not manipulated
with any kind of image editing program like photoshop.

Have fun watching :D

At the moment it is adapted to the newest version
SMOD:T 5.56, but on the release it will be brought
to you in the newest version that is available then.

Unfortunately, I don't have an intelligent guess
WHEN this is x)

This looks like it will be a HL1 mod that can be put next to the likes of Paranoia in terms of quality. :O
Tracked! :)

I'd recommend you leave SMOD:Tactical to OneManShow. While I'm not trying to damper your creative drive, this seems a bit morbid and off-point. SMOD -does- make editing the standard Source-Engine/HL2 campaign Simpler, however actual modding skills are still required.

In order to seem original, creative & well executed, you should create your own SMOD:Add-on from scratch, with original concepts and configurations.

OneManShow has been around since the earliest versions of SMOD, and to create a MOD of a MOD which is a MOD of SMOD (thats 4 mod of a mod of mod's hahaha) seems a bit...again..off-point.

Hopefully you'll consider this before embarking on your version of someone else's concept.

I thank you for your opinion.

Of course you are right, a mod of a mod of a mod of a mod is a little
off-point.. but only on the first look.
We do NOT really change Smod itself. We only add mapps, sound for the
maps, materials for the maps and models for the maps.
We want to keep the tactical gameplay of smod, because we ourselves
like it.
But lets face the truth:
The Half Life 2 mapping is not really made for tactical gameplay.
In addition, nearly everyone has played it through over and over,
no wonder, HL2 launched in 2004.
Our Development Team wants to give Players who own HL2 and CSS
and who like the tactical gameplay of SMOD:T more maps to play...
and because of the fact that TFP is just a mod, it's for free.

In fact, we NEVER want(ed) to praise ourselfs with the work
Onemanshow (and before him Phatcat) has/have done. SMOD:T is an
absolutely fantastic mod and we do NOT want to steal any of their fame.
We just have the opinion that SMOD:T's pontential is not
exhausted by the original HL2 storyline and leveldesign.

The last point (yes, i will stop arguing soon) is, that
the fright project will not be a standalone game.
I plan to launch it over HPC as a kind of addon to SMOD:T,
so that player will know, who made the most work.
Think of Michaelangelos Cathedral: The wonderful cathedral
was there - it just needed some paint :D

Regards, Tobias
