What if GDI and Nod failed to defeat CABAL during the Firestorm Crisis? With both organizations destroyed by CABAL, nothing was stopping the rogue AI from conquering the world, replacing humanity with cybernetics. The Forgotten, out of the way for much of the Firestorm Crisis, now find themselves being hunted down, conflicted between fortifying their sanctuaries and actively waging a guerrilla war for their own survival. The years of unchecked Tiberium growth would also eventually attract the Scrin, expecting Earth to be devoid of hostile life. Their ignorance would only end up thrusting them into the war between CABAL and the Forgotten mutants, a dangerous situation due to their unpreparedness but their desire for the Tiberium Ichor drives them to destroy anything that stands in their way. A new Tiberium War is about to begin between CABAL, the Forgotten, and the Scrin. Conquest, survival, addiction. For whom will you fight for?
Obelisks were tall ominous towers that served as Nod's heavy base defenses. They were the pinnacle of their laser technology, being capable of vaporizing even the toughest armor GDI could throw at them. As such, it was no surprise that CABAL would appropriate these weapons for his own use and went on to make vastly improved models. Some of these prototype Obelisks were first used during the Firestorm Crisis. Today, they guard CABAL's many bases, waiting to annihilate any foolish intruder on sight.
Two models seem to be in active use, identified simply as the Obelisk Of Light and Obelisk Of Darkness respectively. The Obelisk Of Light is an improvement of Nod's second-generation model, notable for it's curved shape resembling the familiar scorpion's tail with a prominent circular base. This weapon can charge up and fire a powerful laser that can cut through flesh and tank armor alike with ease. The Obelisk Of Darkness on the other hand appears to have been heavily modified from the first-generation model used during the First Tiberian War, with a design very reminiscence of it. Unlike the former, this one has been optimized to fire upon aerial targets and serves as CABAL's primary anti-air defense. Even the heaviest armored aircraft can only withstand a few direct hits from this weapon; fighters are more likely to be instantly shot down.
Used together, these Obelisks can form an impenetrable defense line. Fortunately, they are not without the obvious weaknesses. They are neither cheap to come by nor are they energy efficient. Sufficient power is required to keep them functional and this often conflicts with the rest of the base's power demand. Its always easier to simply knockout the power supply and render them useless rather than attacking them head-on. Should the latter tactic be used instead, try to exploit their slow rate of fire in order to finish them off before they have a chance to strike back.
