Installation:
- Unzip anywhere you please.
- Search for fs2_open_20_1_0_20201117_fd3ce9d6c_x64_SSE2.exe in you unzipped folder and run the game from that.
- Be sure to create a new Pilot profile for yourself when the game starts, as well as customize the controls in the Options setting.
- Click "Start Game" to begin the first mission. If a warning comes up saying it can't load the campaign, go to "Select Campaign" and click the Second Lylat War.
What's new in this version:
- 6 Missions for the game's first campaign, set during the Second Lylat War.
- This campaign demonstrates branching paths and unlocking new weapons for your Arwing.
- Brand new UI
- Updated Tech Database for all friendly and enemy craft that appear in the campaign. (Each entry unlocks as you encounter them in the missions)
WOW! downloading now I can't wait, thankyou and have a great Christmas and Happy new year 😍👍.
Same to you.
And yes, I also downloaded this campaign demo and I'm still excited.
Starlink (for the Switch) is the first Star Fox game I ever own for a legit Nintendo console, while Star Fox Event Horizon might be my first Star Fox game for PC. :-)
Awesome! thanks for this, a great Christmas present, I`m just on the first level and loving it, Merry Christmas and a Happy New year to all 🦊🤟
As much as I really want to play this mod, for some reason, I can't. Every time I attempt to, it only gets as far in as the first loading screen, and then closes itself out. When I attempt to run the debug executable to see what it might be hanging up on, I get this:
Assert: "_joystick != nullptr"
File: joy-sdl.cpp
Line: 393
Failed to open a joystick, get a coder!

Attempting to set a joystick via my gamepad (which as a KBM user for this game I have no intention to actually use) did nothing to correct this error. I am running the GOG version of Freespace 2, so issues native to the Steam version are not a factor for me. OpenAL32 is installed on my computer. As far as I can tell, I have all my ducks in a row for this mod, and the error itself is quite odd to my mind. Why would it need to repeat the same message about the exe file 14 different times?
Alas, as I am not the person who made this mod, or the source code for Freespace 2, I am at a loss, and cannot enjoy SFEH even partially until this is resolved.
Hi,you don't actually need Freespace 2 to run this game..are you starting the game from the correct exe that is in the game folder? it tells you which one to use on this page where it says - read more... that`s all I can think it might be.
I suspect it might be tied to the GOG version of Freespace 2, however you should not need Freespace 2 to play this. Are you using the Windows 10 version of the Freespace Open Launcher?
hello undying,
i have been wanting to tell you this but this game is the best i have ever
played (demo 7) i was wanting ask this but can i make my own missions?
and can i give them to you to test out i have my own aparoid ship called grimshot which is 370 meters in diameter.
You can make missions using the editor that comes with Freespace2 for sure.
Great work keep it up I love it!
First mission went off without a hitch, well other than being a little visually confusing, but as soon as loading next mission the game crashed.
Yeah it does that, when you restart you'll be at the next level.
Remember you can go back and play any mission you've completed in the mission simulator I think it's called, and there are loads of unfinished levels in there which are still very good and playable.
I have a problem. When I finish a mission, or I go from space to corneria in the first mission, the game simply shut down. Is there a problem there? or is something my computer have? it just shut down in the second loading section.
I'm not sure what the issue is, I can't seem to replicate it.
Yeah whenever I completed a mission the game will crash and close down - luckily when restarting the game you do start at the next level.

I'm having some graphical issues with this download. It seems some of the original FS2 menu textures that are supposed to be in this game just don't appear, so all the menus just show the text, and nothing else. But even after I navigate the menus and start a mission, the screen constantly blinks black, the ship textures are incomplete, and the HUD is mostly gone. I presume this to be a problem with OpenGL, because I have the original Freespace 2 from GOG, and it started having the same problems, but then I got it to run fine with Direct3D. Any ideas how I can fix this?
This game technically does not need Freespace 2 to run, it needs to be launched from the Launcher Program that has been made for Freespace Open: Scp.indiegames.us
Would be great to get another content update to this awesome game again this Christmas:)
Great mod, however no matter the difficulty, the final part of asteroid belt is an absolute joke, atleast give me more time to kill the MASSIVELY EXPLOSIVE asteroids with the turrets on. Havent managed to get past it and the difficulty makes no difference whatsoever. The rest of the mission is doable but that final part man **** me i am stressed!
I'll consider making the giant asteroids slower. The level is indeed supposed to be the harder of the two second levels, but maybe it is too hard.
i cant read half the text on the UI its so tiny, i think its because my screen resolution is so high
how do i turn the resulution down or is the UI in missions meant to have text so tiny i cant even read it with my face pressed up to the screen?
theres nothing in options for UI or screen size, and the launcher doesnt let you change resolution etiher
The text should be fairy large even on very high resolutions: I.imgur.com
