'Empire of the Shadowtrail v5.0' is a fourth update for an epic custom campaign mod for SpellForce 2: Demons of the Past. A new update brings new brand single-player map, improved level/map design, new boss battles, new quests and new music tracks.
Play as a heroic shaikan, whose home, the Westguard city, was demolished by two opposing forces - Empyrian and Realm troops, which were controlled by two terrible and tyrannical rulers - Shadowtrail and King Redmond. Avenge the fall of your homeland by eliminating those two ruthless warlords and free your people from Shadowtrail's imprisonment!
**NOTE** To intall this mod update, the full version (old) of this mod (v1.0, v2.0, v3.0, v4.0) is not needed and if it's already installed in your game, then it must be uninstalled! Please follow the installation instructions below!
Installation guide
IMPORTANT: Delete old (v1.0 | v2.0 | v3.0 | v4.0) mod files, if they're installed in your game before installing the new (v5.0)
In order to uninstall the mod, you have to delete files, which are in SF2: DotP folder:
- addon3/map/Campaign/ -delete all .map files along with the folders, which contains scripts, map UI, etc.

For those who haven't installed "Empire of the Shadowtrail" mod yet:
Back up these SpellForce 2 files, which you will find in SpellForce 2:DotP directory:
1. addon3\map\Campaign files
Example:

IMPORTANT: After backing up the original maps and putting them to a safe location, please delete the original maps (and folders) from addon3\map\Campaign (only leave a back up folder!). Avoid overwriting/merging original and mod maps together!
It is not crucial to back up the following files, but if you want to play the original game with its original content later (UI, sound, etc.) then you should also back up these:
2. addon3\gfx\ui\main_menu files
Example:

3. addon3\sound\00_music\ao3_theme.mp3
Example:

4. addon3\gfx\ui\worldmap\worldmap_back.tga
5. addon3\video\intro.bik and addon3\video\intro_01.bik
6. base\gfx\ui\questbook\questbook_page_left_solved.tga
Then install the mod "Empire of the Shadowtrail (v5.0) (2018)".zip in SpellForce 2 directory:
1. Run SpellForce 2 and click on Campaign mode

There are sounds , but the sounds for the voices of characters during cutscenes are not there. Is it just me? If so, any fix?
Hello, unfortunately it's supposed to be like that (silent dialogues during cutscenes), couldn't afford voice actors.

More Spellforce is the best! A lot of work goes into these, thanks for all your efforts.
This is an amazing epic mod, it was excellent. Great variety of interesting and challenging missions and story, generous rewards to keep up with the enemies, beautiful maps. Epic battles with real challenge.
He even fixed the autosave issue where the save would interrupt the "level-up fanfare".
Look forward to a SF3 mod from this author!
