Sins of Worlds is based off of a game idea myself and a friend have been working on for a few years, simply called "Worlds."

There are two big things about this concept that don't make any sense.

1. The right-facing turret on the left top side of the ship would just fire directly into thee bridge.

2. Why is there rigging for masts? Neither of them would have any use as there is no gravity.

1: The turrets turn smart-alik! Haven't you ever seen a real Fletcher class destroyer?

2: It looks cool! :U

1. Well consider this, in sins the turrets CANNOT TURN/BE ANIMATED. This ship as well as any designed like it will only be able to shoot directly forward and backward through their own hulls! Also, I can see that you were HEAVILY influenced by the Fletcher Destroyer.

2. That's a matter of opinion, so...

turrets can turn smart *** there is a mod that's in development that is incorporating it

Down vote my comments guys, fine, it doesn't matter and it negates from the fact that I am right.

You, Hotshot, clearly lack a rudimentary knowledge of Sins modding. Turrets cannot turn, the only ways to make it happen would cause the turrets to either be invisible until they fire, or create visual duplicates of the turret when they do fire. Either way, it doesn't change the firing arc, so there will still be No "broadsiding" by these ships. What will happen however is ships being left invulnerable if they attack from either side.

SergeantQuin: It has nothing to do with realism. It has to do with Sins limits. The balance of these ships will cause them to be absolutely worthless. I do not expect it to be "100% realistic". I do, however, expect it to have good balance, ship designs that at least make sense in the Iron Engine, and a developer that will not only take constructive criticism, doesn't type like a 12-year-old, and recognizes these rather well-known hard-coded limits.

I also can't help but notice that you didn't answer my question. What Sins mod being developed uses moving turrets in this fashion? Hmm? No, you didn't answer it, instead you down voted my comment.

I know the torrents can't turn in SoaSE. But this mod isn't JUST for Sins, I plan to make bigger things with Worlds. This mod is just my first step into making something bigger. If it's not "Realistic" enough for you, then go make you own realistic boring *** mod. Obviously you have no imagination, there is a reason why it's called Science FICTION. It doesn't have to be 100% realistic.

Broadside would be really deadly, but it will make ship more vulnerable at the same time. In theory of space combat (or any combat) it would be better for a ship to move face forward to her opponent, so there will be less hit zones in the hull. how do you plan to make this ship rotate in battle ?

It all depends. Some ships will and some wont. But this is Sci-Fi, it's doesn't necessarily have to follow real space rules one to one.
