This mod aims to port the new voices of the 2012 HD port of Silent Hill 2 over to the pc version, along with all the enhancements made by the folks from Silent Hill 2 Enhanced Edition.

Description

The Audio Enhancement Pack and FMV Enhancement Pack are NOT required as they're part of the base installation. This mod is a passion project which replaces the Original Voice Acting For All Events and in game voices in the game with the HD 2012 voices recorded at PCB Studios in L.A famous for dubbing your favorite games like Persona. It also includes redone FMV's with the HD voices using the FMV Enhancement Pack As A Base. The Enhanched Audio is also used as a base. The HD voices have been remixed to true 2 channel stereo Instead of 5:1 and all mixing errors have been fixed.

Hi there! I've come to make a bit of an announcement, coming soon the Silent HIll 2 HD Collection Voice Pack will also be available as a Reloaded II version using the Reloaded II mod loader by Sewer56 just like Silent Hill 3. This has alot of advantages. You can turn the mod off and switch to the original voices without having to re-install the Enhancement Packages or reinstall the HD Collection Voice Pack. Updates can be very small and only push the required files instead of having to upload a huge 4gb offline installer.(The offline installer will still be maintained) The only caviat is that the FMV Enhancement Pack and Audio Enhancement Packs need t0 be 9jstalled for the mod to function. But hey options.

The file size is also smaller due to only shipping with the files actually required. It's 2.23gb compared to 4gb. This filesize is more inline with the Lite Edition of the mod. Anyways stay tuned!!

JaegerFox Hi there. The Lite version has been discontinued in favor of the Reloaded II version. With this version you can turn off the mod if you have the original SH2 Enhanced Edition Files installed (That's why it's mandatory) The other advantage is that only the files that are required will be shipped. So the size is about the same as the Lite Version even though quality is higher across the board.

I don't agree with this, although the Reloaded version is lighter, it is not light in its totality, since you still need the fmv and audio packs that add up to about 4 gb, including this mod it would be 5 or 6 gb.
while the previous mod (lite) was only 3gb max.

JaegerFox wow that's actually a valid point O_O Okay. I'll be releasing a LITE version of the next major update.my only question is this: for that version should I use the original FMV's from the SH2 PC version to make the file size even smaller or should compressed the Enhanced Edition FMV's again?

JaegerFox Just wanted to update you. A Light version is coming along with all the other versions in the upcoming update. It's gonna be a bit of a pain to manage 3 versions of this project but I'm all for giving people options.

thank you for that.
I don't know but I remember that your previous mod already had everything but lightened.
You could use PS2 videos/audios as source files without any scaling and using a compression that helps to reduce the size without affecting the quality.

I think the PC version takes up the video and audio from the Xbox edition using bad compression and video editing that saturates the colours.

JaegerFox I tested both the PS2 and PC video and it plays very badly with the Enhanced Edition's scaling options. So in the end I used the Enhanced Edition videos but compressed again like I did previously.

By the way, I don't like to use modloaders, I think the Lite version would be better to use the "replace" audio/video method or the "native" method used by the Enhanced module (using sh2e folder).

JaegerFox Using the installer method similar to the main offline installer. the final size for the Lite Edition right now is 2 gigs. That's as small as I can get it. In the final stages of testing all 3 versions now.

So the Release of the Silent Hill 2 HD Collection Voice Pack Version 5.0.2 will be on Monday February 27th at 6PM ET if all goes well. I didn't get to do all the stuff I wanted like add an Italian language setting for the installer because I can't find a translator but we're getting there.

JaegerFox There's been a bit of a development: The upcoming Enhanced Edition update basically has it's own folder for stuff like fan translations. these files don't overwrite the main ones so for the full edition I only need to ship with the files that are required. right now the compressed size of the full edition is 2 gigs. This is pretty much in line with the light edition's size right now. My Question is... should I cancel the light Edition and just assume people installed the full Enhanced Edition? so that would be 4 gigs + 2 gigs for my mom. or should Include all the enhanced edition files for example music so that you'd only need to download 315mb of the enhanced edition +2 gigs for my mod?

So you said that we must not install the Audio Enhancement pack and FMV Enhancement Pack from the Enhanced Edition setup but you also said we must not install the Audio Enhancement Pack from this mod if you got it via the EE setup? Does the HD collection have different sound effects besides having different voices? If not, this mod shouldn't have included the Audio Enhancement Pack.

By the way I did a full installation of SH2 EE with the Audio and FMV Packs checked, then I installed this mod with everything except the Audio Enhancement Pack checked and the mod worked, I heard the new voices as I played the game and watched its FMV's and In-Game-cutscenes. I think you may no longer say that it's not recommended to install the FMV and Audio Packs via EE first.

Golbi Sorry for the confusing wording on that.

Basically the Audio Enhancement Pack and FMV Enhancement Pack are included in this mod, So if someone has slow internet for example you'd only have to download the essential files, imagine Enhancement Pack, Xidi and the Credits video from the Enhanced Edition which is about 400mb. But the full install is 4 gigs.

This mod is also 3.86 so you'd be downloading 7.86 gigs if you chose to go that route.

For my mod you can choose not to install the Audio Enhancement Pack music this will save you about 819MB of space if you're concerned about space. If you're using a HDD to run the game it is however recommended to install the music (I'm assuming people use SSD;s)

as for the sound effects.. to put it politely the HD Collection butchered the sound effects so hard it's memed on to this day. The audio quality is very compressed and pitch is wrong all over the place.
