Red Hammer Studios is proud to announce that after some deliberation we have decided to abandon the addon making scene and transform our development model into a total conversion mod. This was a logical jump as we felt that a further reintegration of our resources would speed up development and increase quality, resulting in a more centralized and to the point product. This will give us a chance to release more stuff quicker. I am very pleased to introduce to you RHS: Armed Forces of the Russian Federation or AFRF for short. This mod will focus on an accurate depiction of the many branches of the modern Russian armed forces. We have decided to release the mod in stages and introduce modules as we go along, ultimately completing the whole, and are now working hard to have version 0.1 ready for public testing in the next few months. Expect to see an improved set of already released RHS addons as well as some very awesome new things.

Taking a look at what we aim at with the first release.

At RHS above all else we have always valued the quality and completeness of our addons, and this will be no different with the new mod. It was quite apparent from the long history of OFP, ArmA and Arma 2 modding scene that development of full conversion mods is not going to be an easy task and neither is it going to be a fast one. Thus, it was decided early on that the mod will be released in more manageable phases, first delivering the content and focusing on gameplay later on.

The first release (very modestly numbered 0.1) we are focused on establishing a strong backbone for the nature of the infantry simulator that Arma 2 is. It will also serve as a primary experiment for RHS in conducting a solid multi-addon release through some inhouse tech. So what will you see?

Old Stuff

All previous RHS addons (like the BMD-2 and T-80 tanks) with some nifty new improvements, both in terms of gameplay and visuals. They are of course completely reconfigured to fully re-use resources, now that they are released as part of a whole.

New Stuff

A whole new range of goodies will also be included, with the star of the show undoubtedly being the brand new infantry, sculpted to a level of detail never before seen in Arma 2. There will be a small range of weapons to equip them. Furthermore, a host of new vehicles will be present. IFV's, APC's and trucks.

What you will not see straight away is a come back of the cargosystem as we are currently in the process of rethinking its design.

Thats all for now. Stay tuned.
