Good day,gents!
Here is a new development update for you and this time it will be covering 3 Hessian Regiments hired into the British service in the colonies.
The first two regiments. Grenadier regiment Rall and Fusilier regiment von Lossberg, fought their final battle in Trenton under the command of Colonel Rall along with Knyphausen Regiment . The predominantly Hessian contingent housed in the town was ambushed by Continental troops under general Washington following his night crossing of Delaware river on December 26th 1776.
Surprised by the attack, outnumbered and outgunned, shaken by the mortal injury their commander has received, the 3 Hessian regiments were surrounded and surrendered shortly after, avoiding significant casualties.
The last stand of these soldiers can be seen in the painting by Don Troiani:
Next is the Regiment Von Bose, which is best known for participating in the Pyrrhic victory in the battle of Guilford Courthouse. The regiment marched on the right flank of the Britis army under general Cornwallis and just like any other allied unit suffered heavy casualties from the American Sharpshooter fire.
Nice in theory gonna test it i love though
Cheers! Stay tuned for more :)
I think 30,000 Hessians fought for the British in the Revolutionary War, there was more than 3 regiments, but units look cool, also heard Germans fought for the French as well, Johann DeKalb was a German who was in the french Miliary and he became a Brigadeer General in the Continental Army and he died in the battle of camden. friedrich Von Steuben was a German who helped train the Continentals. The Geraman mercenaries fought all over Europe and in every nation back then because Germany wasn't a united Country back then.
