A fan for Real life Military equipment ? then this is your mod ! it is a Red Alert 2: Yuri's Revenge mod that basically imports a lot of RL military hardware from the cold war era in the 60's to the late 2000's while maintaining a lot RA2 aspects like prism, tesla tech and etc. Also, It expands on the original RA2 armor system thanks to ARES in which it creates more roles to create numerous units effectively expanding the complexity of handling an army making it necessary to use mixed arms to counter the various unit types. Also, do note that each country will have some twists in their military equipment that will be more or less similar to their respective RL counterparts. In short: it is a relative to reality fun mod but "a fun mod" is conservative statement.
The Su-17K Chayki (Seagull) Attacker is a dedicated marine aircraft variant for many soviet aligned nations, its armed with the Kh-23 tactical air to surface missiles that can heavily damage naval vessels of all kind. It is also armed with a modified R-60 that can be used against ground targets, before target contact it releases 4 smaller bomb clusters that can moderately damage targets with in a reasonable radius.
"Glotat"? Are you shure? "Glotok" may be, but then it would not be "swallow". What is the idea of the name? Russian would never give the name "глотать" to anything.
P.S. "Sparrow" may be ("Vorobey")?
I meant it as the bird *facepalm* I did not even think it was meant to actually swallow as in orally eat something and then move it inside your body. Sorry about that, I will change it.
Edit: just found out its proper name: Lastochkovyye (Ласточковые). At any rate I will be renaming it to Seagull (Чайки)
"Seagull" ("Chayka") is actually a good find. While russian military would never give this name to a fighter jet because this bird is a representation of loud, dumb and always hungry entity, it fits Red Alert 2 theme wich is a parody on a cold war.
To be honest I already spent most of the namings including Vorobey. But since the aircraft is kind of made up (Su-17K) does not exit, because I need a marine aircraft for countries other than USSR and PRC; I went for the seagull.
Though, I am not going with parody route this time around. Its going to be a bit serious.
Loud, dumb and always hungry ? That is actually good everything considered with this aircraft and what it does. Since Su-17 are loud, they can carry dumb bombs (Although they are fitted with smart munition) and they are actually almost always are hungry for targets (why would you build them right ?).
