Portal: Alive & Kicking is a full remake and reimagining of Valve's hit experimental title. Using the aesthetics and retcons of Portal 2, A&K will slip you back into the cold test chambers of Aperture Science to retell the original story of Chell and GLaDOS.

This looks already better. The only thing I would recommend is to replace pistons with Portal 2's robotic panels as much as possible, and to use their animation to make the chambers look more lively, even the broken panels in the last chambers.

We use pistons in places where panels don't work.

I'm sure of that, still you should make them less static as opposed to the original maps. The big difference between the first game and its sequel is that the test chambers looked more static in Portal and seemed to be the only ones in the entire center, while you can see them forming and coming to life in Portal 2.

To put it in a different way, make so that players can see the entire test track is under the control of GLaDOS and not just pre-built by hand, and that she can change the design of the chambers at will.

The chambers in the mod are being built when you enter them, making them appear as if GLaDOS is building them fresh for you as you enter. Screenshots don't really show that so I can understand that it's not very obvious. But believe me, there's moving bits all over.

Glad to hear that. I'm looking forward a demo or a video for the updated chambers.

Oh my god, THANK YOU for ditching the idea of having broken, severely mis-aligned/rotated panels and gaping holes to the BTS areas in the test chambers (or in every test chamber anyways).
I know some people must have wanted them, but given the timeline of events and the state of things in the first Portal it wouldn't have made any sense.

I mean it wouldn't hurt to have just a few along the way but having that stuff done to every chamber, and to the extent that it was, it was way way way too much.
In the latest screens everything actually looks like a proper adaptation of the first Portal.

I wasn't too sure about this mod before but now i'm REALLY looking forward to it. Can't wait to eventually see what was done for the BTS areas.

Description

Since the last batch of screenshots, we've started on totally revamping the visual style in the mod. This includes repairing all the missing tiles, improving the lighting, and increasing visibility and overall direction in the maps. There's some other stuff in there as well, like updating some of Portal's assets to better fit Portal 2.
