In late 2005, a Russian mineral exploration company discovered a series of large oilfields in southern Sudan. Sudan’s Military government, with its ability to hold the newly revitalised Sudanese People’s Liberation Army at bay beginning to falter, decided this new source of oil was its one sure-fire way to hold onto power.

New Website!

As well as new forums. Welcome to the new facelift for the Point of Existence modification. This new website and forums is to bring us into line with our current plans to move over to the Battlefield 2 engine. Right now we aren't ready to show off any BF2 content, but if you click on the storyline page you'll be able to find your way to our new theme.

The first thing you'll notice about the new storyline is it is completely different. We decided a complete change was needed, because currently there are obvious comparisons to be made between PoE and BF2. For fear of there being no incentive to play our mod if it is a little too similar to BF2, we decided to change track.

The new theme as you can see, still involves the United States and Russia, but now introduces the German Bundeswehr as well as the Ukranians. As well as bringing a wealth of wonderful new toys, the new locations (Ukraine and Kazakhstan) will allow a wide varaiety of terrain and environment types, from snow to beaches to deserts and grassland 'steppes'. Also to note, is that this new storyline should be thought of as separate from the BF-Vietnam storyline, there is no connection between them.

With that out of the way, we would also like to announce a SPAM FEST in our irc channel on

6 PM Sunday, 29 May, 2005

We'll let you speculate on what the spam fest is in aide of :P

In the meantime we have have some screenshots and a teaser video for you to enjoy. They come from a new map called Embassy which was made by our talented mapper Sgt. Wedge.

Finally, we'd also like to thank the gentlemen over at the Total War tournament for helping us test our release candidate on a massive scale the last few days, their help in stress-testing has been truely invaluable.

Stay Tuned tomorrow for more map screenshots and video teasers!
